Ironically struggling a bit with the shoulder 'armour', trying something new by using 1/1 bootlace strands with a wide eyed needle since using pleather seemed like more work and studs also seemed like a messy jigsaw puzzle to try and pull off the look of the weaved armour...we'll see if it works or not.





Just started with the brown, there will be a lot more black to do...

Thanks guys! Not happy with the results though so going back to weaving real leather and pleather, just trying to get the strips cut to the correct width, thought I had but they're too wide so got to cut them all again patiently with a scalpel as they seem to be too narrow to use the roller cutter. I'll also undo all the stitching bootlace work to replace it.

Cheers guys! It's all trial and error with something unfamiliar but that's what makes it interesting to me. Got more done, might narrow the darker brown pleather strips, then I have horizontal lines to weave as well.

A bit tedious but getting there! Narrowed the darker pleather strips carefully with scissors and replaced them.

Cheers! I feel like I'm making a cross between a raffia mat and a complex Roman mosaic! I have to cut a slit in the fabric every I 'weave' a piece of leather through it, hard not to end up with just a load of leather and burlap confetti! I need to be quite strategic about each cut which is what takes time.

Cheers Peter! Yeah the simpler they look from a distance the more complicated they get as you take a closer look, the ones that look complicated from a distance are still bloody complicated when you get close!!

Thanks Roger! Finished it now and attaching it to his coat, makes me think of an old oilskin coat, I think he's based on an old school whaler but called a boar hunter for PC reasons. I'm sure Asmus would do the sensible production thing and sculpt it the cast it in silicone rubber or silkscreen print it with embossing etc.. Gloves next..

He already looks great. Excellent progress!

Thanks guys! I readjusted his shoulder armour so you can see the fur better on his right side. Started the glove armour, tiny strips of pleather being used so far and threading it through the actual gaps in the burlap material I preglued with PVA to help stop it from falling apart, sort of blocks some of the 'holes' though. The grid lines are in cm to give you an idea of scale, I'll be using at least one other colour too.

This was actually way easier and faster than the shoulder armour, not having to cut each hole made a huge difference! I even made him some basic pleather gloves and repainted my Studio Series Movie Grimlock Transformer while I waited for the PVA to dry .

Bifur is looking great, love all the small detail you add, your trademark now, you've also done a great job on the Transformer, what a super collection you are building.
