YMToys has really been cranking out nice new headsculpts! I really like the makeup on the suntan version of 63 and will have to get a few and figure out a character who likes to change her hairstyle often (or has twins). She kind of reminds me of Francesca Eastwood (Clint's daughter) with the black bangs in version E.

It's neat that they're trying something new by releasing the same face with both pale and suntan options. YMToys seems very experimental doing this and the swap-able hair in another set they announced I think last summer. Super Duck has been as well with their move-able eye head-sculpts.

Agreed! Exciting things are happening! Very Happy

I really like the blue-eyed version with the uneven cut. I'd straighten that.
I'll likely go for one more to have one to mess with. She might be the face I've been looking for for a specific character, but I'd have to darken her skin... always a first time for everything! Primer arrived last weekend... I'm getting serious with it... Very Happy

Nice! It's great when a sculpt clicks for a certain character. It was 3 years after starting this hobby until I finally got a sculpt for a particular character after going through a few sculpts. What's nice with playing around or modifying these sculpts is that it's easy to get a replacement (still costs money) compared to a sculpt loose from a complete set. Cool

I like all four of them--particularly the one with the red hair. I wonder how she'd look with silver hair like from the 50? set with the head released earlier with silver hair with that leather jacket and pants outfit.

It's always nice to have options. I'm not a fan of 66, but there are a couple of looks of 63 that work -- strangely enough the sculpt somehow looks more realistic with shorter hairdos. More generally, the "suntan" version also looks more realistic somehow, too.

I think that may have to do with the heavier make up on the suntan version, which makes her look softer around the eyes.

I think the smile of the Circular 2.0 ( Smile ) is quite adorable. And together with Lori (Circular 1.0) you can now actually have two expressions of the same face! Shame they don't release that sculpt with different hair and eye colors, especially since the shape doesn't look particularly Asian. I can imagine it would be quite popular with all those recent teenage body releases.

Nice sculpts. For some reason I like the way they do the shorter haired heads as well like 63 b and f. The 66 is a bit to cartoony for me.

Dark hair with blue eyes. I was close to going on a rant about how hard it is to find that combination.

YMT063F is perfect for a character I want to work on in the future. YMT063G is so damn gorgeous that I will buy her a body and an outfit. I wish they had one with long wavy black hair as well (which is what I’ve had a hard time finding), but these are REALLY nice.

Love these heads, especially the 63F...but, YM have a habit of not delivering quite what they promise, some of the time, so time will tell.

Fingers crossed they can match their prototypes here.

Dr: So, what brings you in today?

A: Well, I need help with an addiction

Dr: I see. To what substance are you addicted?

A: Head Sculpts

Dr: Excuse me?

A: Head Sculpts. I call them HS for short

Dr: I pray you don't mean scalps. Sculptures of heads? Are you referring to busts?

A: No. Head sculpts for 1/6 scale figures

Dr: Oh, you mean like for dolls

A: {icely} We don't call them that

Dr: Forgive me. Now what exactly is the problem?

A: They release so many new ones every year and even though I'm very close now to having literally 2 HS for each of my bodies, when I see a new one I like come out I have to buy it. The new YMT063, for example. I need to buy both the F & G versions because they're so pretty even though I don't even need them for figures and will in fact have to order more bodies just for them!

Dr: Right then, this is clearly a mental health issue. I'm going to give you a list of recommended psychiatric professionals to consult. Next!

Not only having too many head sculpts becomes the problem/addiction — it’s also then having to buy another body to go with it. I have about 50 nude bodies with heads sitting in plastic bags in boxes with nothing to do with them, and another 50+ heads in containers. This hobby is a money pit of impulse control. Which brings me to making a new thread under the guiding hand of He Who Must Not Be Named.

I like 63F & G, like most. And I agree with Diana that I think the heavier eye makeup is what is making those look more realistic and softer. I honestly don’t have any purpose for them, so I’ll just have to sit this one out and enjoy what some of you may do with them.

I liked the Circular 2.0 66D. She's gonna be nice for Lilith, Morrigan's counterpart, since she is portrayed as being younger, teenage-ish look, and is almost always smiling... now I hope this HS won't be tiny on a S16 body, assuming the HS is pale. I just gotta dye her hair light pink and a haircut.

As for the 63, it really is a beautiful face. I wish the 63E had longer hair.

I got one question: the description says "white-skinned" and "wheatish", does it mean that the A/B/C/D ones are for pale bodies and the E/F/G/H for suntan (wheat)?

Mine is also on a slow boat from UbiPost (yeah I'm not going to let that drop).

I ordered Waner B, because I've got too many headless pale bodies.

Its Suntan equivalent F looks admittedly prettier, but I've learned that with YM what you see in the promos is sometimes far from what you get, so I'll risk missing that one until I see some in hand.

Diana

Diana
Mine have arrived. Multiple surprises:
1 ) I expected to like them more.
2 ) At first I liked the brown haired version better. The short black haired version looked boring.
3 ) After a while I kinda liked the weird uneven cut, though I still intend to "fix" it.
4 ) After messing up the hair of the short black version, I liked that one a lot more!
5 ) The short black version has some mistakes near her eyes. That's not hair.
6 ) She would look great as the Major.
7 ) Her neck is longer in the back, clearly because they intended for her to put her head down and look up. This way there is not gap. But it also means she can't look up all that well.
8 ) The makeup looks quite lazy. It shouldn't be hard to improve on that...
9 ) Where is the makeup, anyway? The eye shadow from the promo shots seems to be missing completely...

Well, they are very beautiful, even if a bit too stylized for my taste. Nice job with the initial modifications. And you can pretend that is hair under the eye on the short-haired version. Smile

Oh no, the promos looked much better. I have B, F & G arriving this week and I had been really looking forward to getting them. Now I'm a bit worried my reaction will match your first comment and they are going to not meet my expectations. Crying or Very sad

Yeah, I received the short-haired version yesterday, and I honestly couldn’t even remember why I ordered it (I actually had to look it up in my database) and was shocked at the difference. It won’t work for what I wanted, but it’s still a decent enough head sculpt. More eye makeup, like Diana pointed out will definitely help.

Mine (pale F) also bears little resemblance to the promos (as usual with YM these days), it's a little too generic-looking for my purposes, without the character the promos promised. But, it occupies one of my too many spare pale bodies now, and is only slightly too yellowish to match it (age and exposure to the air will bring them closer over time, though I reckon).

Disappointing. I think I'm done now with buying YM heads without seeing in-hand photos first (by which time they're usually sold out Laughing ).

Annalise

Annalise
Mine arrived yesterday and while they are not as great as I had originally hoped, I don't think they're terrible. I've certainly seen (and own) worse. The back of the head is very thin and soft compared to older YMtoys sculpts, and the way it sits on the neck on seamless bodies does make it difficult to tilt the head upwards and not leave a gap. Much less so when using a jointed body as it turns out. Still, I'm not sorry I bought them as the stylized look they have is unique in my collection, and they can be very pretty at times.
