Another gorgeous imperial figure. Better known to Westerners as the Wan Li [era] emperor, he reigned in 1572-1620, which is a bit late for my period of interest, and right before the collapse of the Ming Dynasty. The luxury of his court and burial are perhaps among the factors that inspired the making of this figure. I have Ming Taizu, better known to Westerners as the Hong Wu [era] emperor, who ruled in 1368-1398, and founded the dynasty, expelling the Mongols and reunifying China. Forget whether it was made by the same company, but an excellent set. Apparently the set comes just with one head and they are showing off that the neck peg and crown can work with other heads?

Great looking dude, very unique headsculpt. Chinese history is really the state of the art in 1/6 it seems.

Although the print texture on the purple shirt makes him look like he got that shirt from amazon (Men's T-shirt 3d art print blue dragon Chinese mythology fantasy summer streetwear all size casual long sleeve tops emperor style)

These really are great sets, and unlike some others, they (or at least this traditional court costume version) are based on real art and historical sources (a lot of what we see elsewhere appears to be based on films and games). I found out my Ming Taizu/Hongwu figure is from 303 Toys. I haven't posted any photos of it myself, but here is a link to the set (albeit sold out) at Big Bad Toy Store. If you are interested, I can take some photos sometime soon. Might be a suitable occasion to bring out my various Chinese (especially Ming) figures. And Ming Taizu/Hongwu was a kickass emperor, unlike his descendant Shenzong/Wanli.
