Like many collectors, budget dictates, for most of us atleast, you can't collect'em all!
Even those with big budgets cannot collect'em all, as complete line's are rarely made available.

Kitbash - Nurse Alex Price (An American Werewolf In London)

My kitbash of Nurse Alex Price from the movie An American Werewolf In London (1981)
This project represented my second attempt at a 1/6th scale figure kitbash.
The 1/6th portrait was originally sculpted to be used for a kit bash of Jessica from Logan's Run (1976)

Sixth Scale Figure by Sideshow Collectibles

Arrived today..
The Dude figure looks so cool!

The head sculpt looks great, and is (dare i say it) Hot Toys level.
The cardigan complete with zipper looks perfect.
The clear footwear, Plastic's/Jellies look spot on.
The sunglasses (complete with clear orange lenses) look as good as they can look.
The various hands (of which there are 12) look slightly realistic.
The 4 glasses of White Russian complete with ice-cubes is an excellent touch. Note: each glass is a slightly different shape.
The figure also comes with a Bowling ball and black (fake) leather bowling ball bag complete with zipper.
There is a standard type of the stand, with a rug pattern (from the movie) overlay.
Oh (nearly forgot!) The Dude comes complete with a 1/6th scale Joint

Great pictures and he looks like he just stepped off the set.  That head sculpt and the pose come across just like the laid back movie character.  Very cool!

Also, really like your kitbash and diorama set above!

I'm glad to see this turned out so well and thank you for the look and the mini review. I feel they really should have given him a real sixth-scale carpet with a bit of a stain.

Wait, no real rug? Would have really pulled that room together, but that's just like my opinion man.


But the rest is beautiful as a Dude can be. A real role model.

He did turn out really good. Sideshow has produced a couple really decent figures in the last couple of years (as long as you get First Batch — subsequent batches tend to lower in quality).

Those clear jelly shoes are hilarious!

Many thanks. It opened my eye's as to just how much work is involved in creating a 1/6th scale figure.
It made me respect Hot Toys (..and other companies in the 1/6th scale game) all the more.

I guess they could have offered an EX/Deluxe option that included the rug for additional cost.
What would have been the best approach to recreating the rug? as an actual 1/6th rug based on the original would have involved a ton of work. A printed version would probably come in for much criticism. Sideshow did include a plastic base that features a print featuring part of the rug pattern.

I have no knowledge of Sideshow and later batches being lower quality. I assume it is true, then maybe it applies to some figures from Sideshow's past?

Since the images were posted i have obtained a new rubber hose that is not translucent. When i find the time, i will upgrade the hose on the Oxygen Tank.
Also i realized i should not have tucked the trousers/pants into the boots. It is possible to get the trousers/pants to go over the boots.

As far as Sideshow and the later batches. Here’s only what I know: pretty much all of their earlier bodies were junk — wretched, floppy, loose-jointed junk. Lately, I think starting around the time they did Snake Plissken they started using better quality bodies. Unfortunately, starting around the time they made Mythos Obi-Wan, they went to making their figures “in waves” the first batch has better paint, weathering, bodies, etc., where as subsequent batches have lower quality in everything. Not sure why this is happening; the cynic in me, and my overall distaste for Sideshow as a business, may cloud my view, but I suspect it’s because first batch figures tend to get highly praised (I know Mythos Obi-Wan did, and I have that figure and absolutely love it), thus working as a promotional tool to prompt the production of more figures — sadly, however, most people have reported problems with those later batches. So far (knock on wood), I’ve only received First Batch runs (aside from General Grevious, which was a second run figure and had been slightly improved since so many complaints came in, along with cancellations). Nothing would surprise me with Sideshow, however, since they have some pretty unscrupulous tactics as a company.

Compared to a Hot Toys figure, The Dude while not being loose-jointed, is no where near as tight as a 'new' Hot Toys figure. So who knows might happen The Dude's joints over the coming years?

Hot Toys are not perfect either. My Hot Toys Catwoman has very loose ankle joints.

Yeah, Hot Toys tends to use inferior quality materials for their "rubber" and clothing. Their stuff may LOOK good, but it has a tendency to rot, crack or fade for many people. Tragic considering the costs of these things.

Many Hot Toys are less than ideal to be played with for all the reasons you list. Nothing beats the museum pose.
I have watched videos on how to care for Hot Toys figured if you want them to last. Also a lot depends on heat and humidity where you live.

Your Asami is really awesome! I think I remember seeing the progresses but I'm not sure if I saw the final piece.

Thanks. I can see areas that could be improved on. I will leave as is, as i am happy with the results.
If i ever came into some money, i might consider a custom head sculpt with a pro paint app.

You are very kind.
I used room lighting (2x direction ceiling spot-lights) and an old Sony Cyber-shot digital camera that is only 7.2 mega pixel.
The black bars in the first shot are intended to add that movie look.
