I imagine there was probably some special attention to feeding them properly. I generally prefer bigger dogs, but from the photos and video I've seen, they looked like lovely, happy, energetic, attentive, healthy animals.  Actually that reminds me... apart from choosing to make them overfed, they do not seem to have quite succeeded in conveying their partial fluffiness. And no, I don't actually think these had much to do with the Queen's corgis, specifically -- probably coincidence.
