Animal cruelty! Not really... cats love boxes, and big cats (like pumas and tigers, etc) are no exception. But I can't say I'm feeling this, myself.

Nah, it's almost as if Messi realizes he owes his life to these two and he'll put up with pretty much everything his "father" does to him. You saw him hiss at one point -- well, that was about the extent of his reaction (I think the most hostile one I've ever seen), other than a low growl that is almost easy to confuse for purring. His patience (with his "parents", not as much others) is pretty impressive -- a regular cat would not put up with that. He takes on more loving abuse whenever they try to keep him from sleeping during the day (because he has the bad habit of waking them up at 2 or 3 or 4 am). Perfect illustration, I think they were trying to get him up to go on a walk before it got dark and/or snowing again:


Anyway, I was thinking of him because he has several videos of getting into (or disassembling, one piece at a time) boxes. Shredding cardboard is his favorite pastime. I think this is one of them, though not the most typical:

Agreed, and nature is a powerful thing, considering he was not born in the wild. But if you saw what he does to get them to adjust to his schedule, you'd think that pretty cruel too.

That was my thought as well.

He actually has his own refuge if he finds them insupportable.

I like the box. I'm less sold on the cat.
