Wary of this line of figures after what happened with the female versions. Though perhaps the fact that the bodies on these are all-plastic and not the rubber material will make them less prone to that staining.

That said, as with the other ones, the stands for these are quite nice -- I may actually try to pick up the one for the Ares figure loose at some point.

When are these items are able for purchase?

The information just came up. It usually takes a few days (sometimes a week or so depending on the retailer) to put the Pre-Order up.

Check out this thread if you're not familiar with the retailers out there:

https://onesixthfigures.forumotion.com/t1860-on-line-retailers-list

If you're new to this hobby altogether I'll give you a fair warning: DO NOT PRE-ORDER FROM EBAY.
(Unless you've dealt with someone on the Bay you have complete faith in, it's not a good idea as much of this stuff takes over a year to finally come to market -- and you're chances of getting your money back if you don't get the item is not good).

Yes I am pretty new and thank you for the pre order advice. I need as much advice as I can get

Even though I'm a little thrown off by Hercules' hair the Face completely makes up for it. man that is an awesome figure

No problem, DMAN970. There are plenty of Dwayne Johnson heads out there (some better than others, of course), and if you can swing the cost get the official Hot Toys Roadblock (GI Joe movie) head sculpt of Dwayne, as it's the version all the bootleg versions are based on; that is if you're looking to specifically make DJ from his Hercules movie.

The TBLeague version originally had a DJ-like head sculpt on the prototype (but ARH Comix wanted one that looked more like their creation rather than the movie):

The head sculpt looks more like the actor who played Ares on Xena: Warrior Princess.

If I get my hands on the Hercules one I maybe want to repaint it a little bit more darker.

What paint would be best, Acrylic paint or other?

Both of these look absolutely great, even though much of them is more fantasy than history or myth/ancient art. CooModel is really trying to coax the money from my wallet, isn't it. What did I ever do to them? Smile And hard plastic is as prone to staining as silicone and tpe.

I hadn’t realized the harder plastic was prone to staining — mainly cause my efforts to ‘stain’ hard plastic bodies were generally not very successful, so thanks for the correction. ;p

Regarding the question about painting: yes, acrylic paints are good to use on hard plastic, and preferably a type of acrylic specifically designed for painting small figures, such as Citadel or Vallejo brands. Just make sure to use an acrylic primer first, which helps the paint adhere to the plastic.

At least this Ares looks formidable, unlike David Thewlis. Wink I’m tempted by Ares. It would be cool if they continued in this vein, and gave us Zeus, Poseidon, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hera, Apollo, Hermes, etc. One of my biggest wishes is for a Minotaur (and not like that crappy big guy wearing a helmet in the movie Immortals, but a “real” one).

Haha, that is amazing. Great costumes and posing. Did you put that together in response to Stryker's comment, or did you already have those on file?

Either option is pretty impressive. :'D

Thank you, I should have known you'd like these. Smile Actually, they are pretty old -- I borrowed them from my TBL M35 review on here, and they are the second attempt at recreating these scenes from Classical art, substituting the previous body (M34) with the new one (M35) for the Minoratur. I sculpted and painted that bovine head myself and feel it is pretty decent for a first try.

Thanks! And that is a very cool-looking minotaur, but for me it is a little cartoonish and fantasy (although technically they are all fantasy, and mine were based on mostly ancient Greek vases, which are basically nicely painted cartoons).

Both of these figures are up on Giantoy: $265.99 USD each (includes worldwide shipping). Bit steep, but I guess it's because of all the metal.

Nice one, GF! That is indeed really good for a first ever attempt! Very Happy

And I'm somewhat curious about these.... mainly because of the bodies being seemingly all hard plastic. Are any other bodies similar to the ones used on these figures? I'm still on the lookout for a muscular body I could actually paint, and it's tough to find any that don't at least have some rubber on the torso or arms.

Thank you again!

Apart from the overpriced and hard to find HT muscle bodies (which may be a thing from the distant past by now), there are certainly the various World Box bodies. They just made a very ripped version, AT027. If I have time (and electricity), I will take a photo or two and post it. There may be a few HT muscle body knock-offs out there, too, but it was generally a relatively slender build.

And that AT027 was the only other one I could find like that -- would be interested to see it, though of course no pressure! : )

I’m a little more bummed at the price of these. I just received Athena and Hades today, and they were priced at 219.99 each — why the massive price increase? Because their male?

Those were some awesome looking figs GubernatorFan, Do you specialize in any other humanoid animal figs?

I've been trying to make a Realistic Lion-O ThunderCats Scale figure. But the Head sculpt is tough as nails and I don't have enough skill for something that yet

From the look of these Coomodel figs I wonder what a Non-TBLeague Leonidas would look like

I agree. It must be the double standard. Men get paid more than women, so they cost more than women! Men are pigs! j/k Wink No, I think it is just that they are coming out with them later, and prices were "due" an increase. Also, at least one of the male head sculpts is actually of an actual person (the Rock); I forget about the other.

Thank you very much! No, that's the only animal-headed human I've made so far, but am not excluding something else down the line. TBLeague did a lion pelt scalp for their second Hercules, so maybe that could be modified into a full head -- I'd have to look at it again. I think that to a point an animal head sculpt ought to be a little easier to manage than a human one -- at least one of a specific human.

A non-TBLeague Leonidas? You mean like the Hot Toys version?

But then again I think you mean with hard plastic body and visible joints. Then maybe something like that:

Ares reminds me of Steve Reeves, a sword and sandals fave from days gone by. Hercules looks the best to me and it's interesting to see The Rock with that much hair.
