So..
I picked up a 1/6 head sculpt of Jessica (played by Jenny Agutter) from Logan's Run from Stryker2011
The head sculpt looks great.

Since i am a big fan of the movie An American Werewolf In London, decided to work on a kitbash based on Nurse Alex Price (played by Jenny Agutter).

Sure the hair is a different style, but the face is the same.

This is moment i am going for. Hyper simple in some respects.

The only garment of clothing required is a grey t-shirt with the letters NYU written on the front.
The t-shirt belongs to David Kessler, hence the reason it looks too large for Nurse Alex Price.
The plan is to create the letters in Photoshop and print them out to print and iron on transfer paper.

Q. Does anybody know the name of the font used on the t-shirt?

Also, i have consider soaking the t-shirt in water and stretching it vertically to give it a used look.

The font is called “Gotham”. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Thanks.
I had looked at Gotham. It appears to vary quite a bit. Not all Gotham fonts have the Wild West lines on them. I'll keep searching.

I found a good website for identifying fonts from an image Smile
https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

Using the above site, i found a font called: PLAYER WIDE BLACK
https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/canadatype/player/wide-black/

It comes at a price.

This helped be locate similar free fonts

I would just Google NYU logo font, and then look at images. You’ll see some with the variations you’re looking for.

Great Project, can´t wait to see the figure finished.

You can use a fine paintbrush and do it by Yourself

I am not that good. I'm positively amateur.

Finding a good quality image of that actual NYU logo has proved impossible.
The letter 'U' is unusually wide. I made one myself, that is more inspired by, rather 100% accurate. It looks slightly more chunky.

The plan is to print it out at 300dpi and then cut the letters out and iron them on.

Looking at those letters. I have worked out a way to make them more accurate.

Update..

I think i'm done with the logo. The 'Y' possibly could use slightly more work.

I think your first attempt to the letters was actually closer — the spacing between them should be slightly (very slightly) further apart.

At the moment she looks closer to Logan's Run Jessica with a suntan.
I'm not sore where this kitbash is heading.

The vertical's of the N Y U were too wide on the first attempt.
They should be as wide and the bottom part of the U is high.

The two angle parts of Y could use thinning. That might throw the angle part of the N out.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project. Sorry no feedback on the letters as I'm pretty much clueless on these things and my perception with angles and other things are really horrible!

Though I would probably look into making the width of the letters all the same. The stroke width looks like they are all the same width. The overall width of the letters are also the same width. But again, I could be entirely wrong in this as the angle and size could skewer the actual look.

Painted by Ian (based on reference images of Jessica - Logan's Run)
Decals added afterwards by me. Should i have painted the eye's to look greyer?
I might add clear lacquer to the eyes.

Originally when Ian sent me photo’s of the painted head sculpt, I thought the skin tone looked too dark. Once I got to see the paint app in person, in natural daylight, I thought it looked a whole lot better.

Under the scrutiny of the camera lens, things can look slightly untidy, grainy etc, and there is always room for improvement. I guess this is why Hot Toys use plastic and not resin, to avoid graining.

The bulge of the eye right eye (on the left side of the photo) could use moving inwards towards the nose. I had no choice but to place the eye decal as such as it is pointing slightly inwards. If i had placed the eye decal in the correct position of the eye bulge, it would have been not center, and look out of position.

Personally, I think the 3D sculpt is slightly wider than it should be, especially around the lower face area.

..still pondering - do i remove the eye decals, and repaint the eyeball darker (grey) less white and have another crack at the eye decal positioning. I am convinced that it the sculpt of the eyeball that knocks the eye decals off, especially the right eye (on the left side of the photo).

I would say remove and repaint the whites more grey — and then just position the decals in the center — don’t worry so much about the “bulge” of the eye — at normal viewing distance, and not under a microscope, are you going to notice it...? I would also add a bit more paint to the cheeks to add a bit of definition.

Might have to do that. The eye's that is. I don't have the skills to paint the cheeks.

Any suggestions for removing dried decals?

I would just use a little dab of alcohol type solvent on the end of a Q-Tip — it will probably take some of the eye paint off, too, so be careful. If they are water slide decals, just get them a little damp with water, and you should be able to remove them.

I will give that a try.

The plan is to leave the eyes as is.
Reason being - in person they are light grey (not white). The images above were taken in bright natural light. The skin tone in person is much darker.
I might still add a layer of clear gloss to the eye's.

I feel the positioning of the decal looks fine. The only thing I notice, and I think it depends on how the lighting is on the photograph is that Jenny Agutter has super long eyelashes that cast a deeper shadow from her upper eyelid so it's got a bit more depth. (maybe paint a little shadow on the top edge of decal?) Overall, it looks great though and looks like the actress to me.

When adding the eye decals, i did cut off the upper part of the decal. I agree, a slight shadow to remove the top of the decal further + add shadow could work. I had considered it, and might go ahead with that idea.

Just placed an order for:
Phicen/TBLeague PLMB2017-S27B Suntan, Medium Bust Female Seamless 1/6 scale

I went with Tan as the paint app looks tanned. The original plan was to go with pale.

I figured i coulld not progress further, as i need to see the t-shirt on the body to work out how wide to make the logo that needs to place added to the t-shirt.

Mean while i have put off messing around with the eyes. Part of me wants to start over, and part of me wants to add the gloss.

The UK goes into COVID-19 lockdown for 4 weeks starting on Thursday. It will give me time to focus more on this figure project Smile
