Nice backdrops - update February 3rd

Thanks for sharing how you did it. I know you've explained it before, but helps to see.

So , these come rolled up? I always worry they will come with creases from being folded.

I thought El prints them out at a local shop. Handling it yourself always helps.

I thought he said they were from AliExpress?

If you buy enough at once (7-10?) they normally come rolled up. That what elbundy wrote on another board. If you buy only a few you get them folded.

I havent tried it myself though max had been 3 and they came folded...

Very nice secenes again El! Those backdrops are great for both photographing scenes and presenting figures in the shelf.

Ah ok. It's kind of a gamble it seems. I'm thinking of just getting some posters in the 'small' size that Elbundy mentions (60 x 90 cm), since at least posters are guaranteed to come rolled up!

If you aren't in for a gamble you could always write the seller and ask them if they can send them rolled. It might work if you buy more than one, haven't tried it myself though (as I don't buy backdrops very often anyway)

Ok, I admit that is a little bit confusing. All backdrops in this post are readymade vinyl backdrops, bought at aliexpress. They only cover the back wall and the ground. The advantage of vinyl is that it doesn‘t reflect the light. The selfmade posterprints, I showed in other threads, cover back and side walls (one piece) and the floor separately. Here the disadvantage is the light  reflection.

When you order the backdrops, you can ask the vendor to roll it up (maximum length 60 cm). At least one of them does so. When the backdrops are sent folded, you have to roll them up tightly for some days and use a flat iron.

LOL. I agree, the photos look great. I read somewhere that Tom Cruise divorces each wife when she reaches age 33, and that each of them is 11 years younger than the previous one. If we knew the particulars, we might be able to predict the fate of this relationship.

This time a vinyl backdrop with more action. The smoke effects are digitally added.
Do you know similar backdrops with more action themes?

That’s pretty cool. Nice set up — the smoke effect along with the chopper is really awesome.

BTW you can easily remove wrinkles in the backdrop via postprocessing with the app 'retouch'

Same here. I'm starting to play around with backgrounds. This thread, among others, has been very inspiring.

This backdrop could have been great because of its motive and its colors. Unfortunately, the angle of the photoshoot doesn't match quite well the scene in the front.

Hmm. I wonder if it would make more sense to cut it at the bottom edge of the wall, and just make it an alleyway scene? I like what you were going for, but have to agree, it seems a bit off kilter. Still nice posing and characters.

In theory, it might be that your expert skateboarders/rollerbladers are taking advantage of a challenging slope in the terrain, though it is a bit of a stretch. But the backdrop is very cool, I agree.

I keep looking at the backdrop, but I don’t there’s much you can do. There’s too many 90 degree angles for a two dimensional photo to be taken from that perspective.

Thanks for you comments. The graffiti wall inspired me to show a little spraying scene. I know that some people don't like these photo manipulations, but this time I couldn't resist.

Fun shots. I think by showing less of the left side, you are reducing the implausibility -- the right side could be a ramp. So it looked even better. It occurs to me that while having an image of a flat wall (or two or three at right angles) as backdrops might decrease the perceived depth of the scene, but would work perfectly with your figures, no need to worry about perspective or getting the shadows right, etc.

That smiling head on the last pic reminds me on Anya Taylor-Joy a bit somehow.

I like the idea of using that backdrop to create your own graffiti
