Another great report by our maid for adventure. Unfortunately she's mostly on the wrong side of the camera Neutral

The starstruck veteran looks a bit uneasy next to her Laughing

Ambitiously conceived and beautifully executed. Perhaps it's a certain style, but I'd make the font a little smaller, so you can forego this much hyphenating. Is this supposed to hearken back to silent era (pre) movie reels?

I was not happy with the number of hy-phenations required either, but I wanted to keep the typeface as large as feasible for readability. This installment was a stylistic experiment, with some aspects not working as well as I had hoped, and some mid-production changes possibly being ill-advised. I initially considered full-panel inter-titles between images, as in silent films; or text boxes under the panels, as though it were the script of a narration. I ended up taking a hybrid approach that did not entirely work out as well as I hoped it might. Still, this particular project offered opportunities to learn some new capabilities in Comic Life and a chance to brush up on more efficient use of a DSLR camera. I figured out a new approach to streamline the processes of scripting, panel layout, and photography. And then there was the "fun with real fire" in a setting made of paper and cardboard -- and no faces were melted off in the process; nor did my house burn down.

Thanks for taking the time to look through and comment. I'm always looking to learn what doesn't quite work and what can improve readability and story flow.

I'd say this was a pretty successful experiment. As for whatever went wrong or did not work out as well as you liked, as you said, a learning experience. Please don't use real fire around your figures and dioramas! For their sake and yours.
About fire, in theory you should be able to use some electrical light option to get your desired light color and direction, and then superimpose a transparent-background fire PNG that you can crop as needed. It's a bit more special effects, but a lot safer than setting your house on fire. Smile
