Okay, an interesting set, my guess is that this is based on the Vyazma operation of February–March 1942. For those who dont know, that operation ended with a ton of losses for the VDV and with them badly scattered. There was another operation near the Dnepr/Kiev operation of September 1943, another operation that ended in disaster.

Very nice set, and appropriately youthful, considering the kind of recruits they drafted.
