IMAGE HOSTING TEST THREAD FOR THE GOV'NA

Test No. 1:

Using the "Insert Image" button on the Menu bar and linking from Imgur BBC code:

NOTE: AFTER POSTING, HITTING EDIT BUTTON (BUT NOT ACTUALLY CHANGING ANYTHING) -- WORKS FINE.

Test No. 5:

Using the "Host an Image" button on the Menu bar and using "URL" from Imgur BBC Code link:

NOTHING HAPPENS. DOES NOT WORK. YOU CAN'T HOST OR INSERT WITH THIS FEATURE.

The below image is inserted using the "Host an Image" button on the Menu bar and "+select files" option (taken directly from my hard drive). It is a screen-cap of the box that opens when trying to use the URL code under "Host an Image"; nothing happens when you hit "Host it" or "Send all", so unable to actually get to the "insert all" button.

Thank you, Stryker. This is exactly what we needed. I will proceed with the question on Forumotion's support forum.

Just FYI, this is a direct copy and paste from Imgur, not using any of the menu bar options above:

First is a screen cap from Imgur of the BBCode as advised by Imgur for posting on message boards and forums:



Then the picture associated with that link.



Both of these were done by simply clicking the copy button in Imgur (or you can probably do a select & copy), and then just pasted in the text box, no need for the Menu bar above the text box.

(EDIT: CLICKING ON THE "EDIT" BUTTON DOESN'T ALTER THE IMAGE LINK).

Test 3

I use the method used in post 7. Interestingly, doing that with Imgur just leaves the image there, it is just the image. Do that in PB and it links back to that image in PB, which is what all the fuss was about.

Hover your mouse over a PB image and the 'link thumb' comes up, do it with an Imgur one and it's still a cursor. That's how to tell the difference between PB and Imgur. Never used Flickr so I don't know what that does.

Another tidbit I was able to piece together from different stuff here and there is how to post an animated .gif from Flickr.

The key is to get to the field that offers the drop down for image sizes. You must choose "original size" as Flickr only really recognizes .jpg.

When you do, if you could please make a post using whatever image you want from Fotki and try these four or five options (and please number them accordingly) -- you can compare my Servimg test post there:

1. simply paste BBCode into the text box for your post

2. paste BBCode into the "Insert Image" function

3. simply paste direct link into the text box for your post

4. paste direct link into the "Insert Image" function

5. optional: if you posted your images here in some other manner, please explain what that is, and do that one too.

Then please post ("send") the post. After that, please click on the "Edit" button for that post. It doesn't really matter whether you edit anything (I add a phrase like "Test 5" or something), and post ("send") again.

It will be very helpful, as it will allow us to determine what is both simplest and most stable when posting images from Fotki.

I guess it would be Number 3. this is the only way I can post photos from Fotki.

I seem to be having problems seeing some of my pics over on the Schwimmy thread. After I posted in the sticky pic posting thread one of them mysteriously showed again, but the others are still missing. This is not the disaster of the last time, when everything disappeared. It's just a few random ones. I'm using this post to repost some of those missing pics to see if anyone can see them here.

Can you see these:




On preview I can't see any of them and they are also the ones not showing up (for me) on the original thread.

Okay, it looks like re-posting the pics elsewhere on this site brings them back for me on that thread. The ones I haven't reposted that were missing are still missing. I don't have time to go through and do it now, but will do that tonight. So, when you see me posting random pics on this thread later on, you'll know what I'm trying to do.

This is so weird and unexplainable, but if it works then I won't complain!
