As for your dolls....they are awesome! I love those group pics. And thank you for sharing all the details about the bodies, it's very helpful. I've looked into using Chelsea or Stacie bodies for a custom kid figure before, but was frustrated by how hard it is to find ones with articulation. Some have articulated legs, but not the arms! What are the 'EAH' arms that are the Stacie?

Oh, and in the first pic, you said the baby/toddler is on one of the 'cheap' bodies -- do you mean the Obitsu 11 cm style body? Just want to make sure I'm not assuming incorrectly...

‘Ever After High’ - they’re similar to the ‘Monster High’ range from a few years ago. They’re a bit too stylised for my taste, (the girls in the Harry Potter doll range use their bodies unfortunately) but they’re handy limb donors for smaller dolls, though they’re very delicate in form. I’d honestly go for the Creatable World ones instead tbh, they’ve got much better articulation and are a lot sturdier, plus the clothes they come with are actually really nice quality!

Oh no, the first doll isn’t an Obitsu, she’s on this body - https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F312727873125

Sorry, I mistook the one above for the one I have, they look quite similar at first glance. Despite the price they’re not bad quality. Not the best plastic of course, and I did have to do some customising to replace the neck joint so I could get some proper articulation with the replacement head, but all in all I’d definitely recommend!

The tiny red haired kid at the front with the orange top, she’s on a knockoff Obitsu body. It’s very well articulated but I’d definitely recommend getting the real thing rather than a fake as it’s super fragile and the arms can fall off at the slightest touch. XD

Ovy -- yeah, I had seen that about some of the people who make those re-borns, though to me, that's what makes it even MORE creepy that they look like dead babies, but.... ahh.... enough on that subject, I suppose. ;p

Lynkhart -- thanks for the added explanations. I am indeed familiar with Ever After High dolls -- if only from watching some doll tutorials online, lol -- but was being dense and couldn't place the acronym. ;p That's a great idea to utilize their arms for those figures where it works. But I'll keep in mind the Creatable World bodies ....now THOSE I had not heard of til you mentioned them! They do seem perfect for teenagers, and will probably come in handy at some point. Basically, somewhere down the line, I would like to make a teen version of a SW character who is hanging out with a kid version of another SW character... just for a fun 'flashback' type scene. It's a project that's still a long way off, but I was nonetheless curious about both teen AND kid bodies for that reason, so your group pics are invaluable in that regard, since now I can see height comparisons! Smile

And re: the Obitsu -- I keep getting really surprised by how tiny those 11 cm Obitsu bodies are! For some reason, I keep thinking they are more the size of that generic 16 cm doll body you used for the kid in the first pic.

Speaking of Obitsu's .... if someone is just looking to do a female teen character, I think some of the larger 1/6 scale Obtisu bodies would work for that as well. The 24cm and 25 cm bodies, in particular:

Thanks for finding those two, Detective Stryker! Although I don't remember the minigun scene in Leon. Laughing
Those two are pricey...and the Connor head looks a bit old fashioned.

Ah thanks, looks a bit more detailed than the other one.
Although I always found John Connor to be a rather annoying character. Laughing

E: Ok I googled the boy, he is rather pricey now, too! But thanks anyway, he would have been useful otherwise.

And it seems the baby form is about 7-7'5 cm long, x6 about 45cm, which might pass as tiny little 1/6 baby. I will give it a try:

Lynkhart's post is really nice, a good little guide of non standard bodies. And yes it was one of those real looking babies, I really do not like realistic looking humans in real scale cause they creep me out.

Hah, yes 'Uncanny Valley' is a very real place. Have never been to a Madame Tussaud's, though, looks fun.

Stumbled upon another head, I think it might fit the Kumik Teen Bodies mentioned earlier.

Also, the baby maker has arrived. I don't think the whole face will be visible. Poured some resin in there, will check it again tomorrow evening.

And yeah.... I guess that's the downside to it being an insanely creepy cake topper... it's flat on the bottom... ;p

I made one test, more of that in another post.

Well, kids again. Big issue today on this Friday the 13th, with all schools and kindergartens etc. closing next week...and all those other bad news.

But well, two good news on this unlucky Friday!

One:
The bomb in the nearby city was successfully defused! To get to work, I walked over the bomb spot for nearly two years two times a day and didn't blow up, lucky me.. Laughing

And:
Post from China and Japan! The Wolf Boy, the Obitsu bodies and the monk head.

Such a cute tiny box.

Ha, thanks for this cute lil review! The Wolf boy seems just the right size for a 'little kid', whereas the Obitsu does seem more like a baby, still.

How is the articulation on the Wolf boy? I like the mini stand he comes with, too.

So curious to see what you are doing with them. Very Happy

That wolf baby is kinda cool now that you've shown us some more at home pics. I thought the obitsu body was a bit larger, that is small but I'm sure you can work your magic on it. For now we wait to see what you come up with.

Hey Ovy, I know this thread is from nearly a year ago (!), but I saw this listing and had to share:

Ha, yeah thanks for thinking of me!

I actually wanted to/will revive this thread, as I recast and 3d printed children's heads in preparation for these bodies. I used a bust of a child museum scan from an open museum 3d scanning project, and scaled an cut it into a 1/6 head in blender.
I will definitely review that body once I got it.

Wow, neat! Glad I revived the thread. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. The GianToy listing says it is 'in-stock', so ...shipping soon?

And yeah, I wondered about the heads... since they don't seem to be offering any to go along with it yet... ;p

Yes it is intended for those Zootopia animals I guess. Intresting marketing chocies there, maybe they speculate or have deals with companies creating fitting heads.
Anyway, having children became much more affordable now.

I consider getting them before the 1 cent discount is gone.. If I buy 1649 of them I get one figure for free, basically.

What do you mean, 'Zootopia'? You mean Mr. Z's own animals? It's funny, I actually am thinking now of making a little kid to ride the Shetland pony, whereas before I didn't have a use for the pony, so I guess their marketing worked? ;p

Hope they will make more fitting heads (or someone will). The little bald monk head is cute, but would be nice to have variety, not to mention a bit more realism.

Glad 1/6 kids are more afford for you now!

And the 1 cent discount... Laughing  Well, I bought one. Very Happy

Mr Z made these alien mutant bideal animals using these children bodies: https://www.timewalkertoys.com/Dumpling-Pocket-Zootopia-Series-2-Mr-Z-1-6-Sca-p/mrz-pzcs005.htm

A child for the tiny pony is actually a good idea, good look.
What age range do you think could that body could be used? Thinking about 3 to 6, all genders.

Yeah, I'm actually excited to get that Mr.Z pony now. :'D

Re: age range -- I think your guess is good, but it depends on how the body looks next to the adult 1/6 bodies. I'm really bad at guessing, and couldn't tell for sure unless I saw a pic of it next to some adult figures.

So I bought four Mr Z Child bodies from Giantoy, they arrived after one week. They are sold out at the moment.
https://giantoy.com/products/1-6-mr-z-child-jointed-figure-body

There aren't really children heads available separately, I once bought the 'monk head' on ebay which might be a customized copy of the Aikido kid. I made a silicone mold from it before I put brown hair on it.

Left: customized "Wolf Boy" figure, the first child figure I bought as it was affordable unlike these lakor babies.
Right: Mr Z child body with the customised "Monk head" and some place holder wrapping. Mr Zs are slightly taller and has bigger feet.
Look at the march 14 2020 post for more on monk and wolf.
Child figures -> Mr Z body +3d printed heads - Page 2 PSX-20210319-194405

They come with multiple spare hands and pegs etc. All very tight. Three bodies had very hard feet and hands that could only be attached with heating, another body had softer hands and feet
Child figures -> Mr Z body +3d printed heads - Page 2 PSX-20210319-194219

In preparation of the bodies I downloaded multiple 3d models of busts and statues depicting children from the Scantheworld project on Myminifactory. They 3d scan museum sculptures from around the world and make them available for free

I cut and scaled the models and added holes before printing.
I have 7 different sculpts now and one baby sculpt.
Some are better, some worse. They are all boys I think but should work for all genders.
Child figures -> Mr Z body +3d printed heads - Page 2 PSX-20210319-194054

Here with baby/small child sculpt on obitsu body. The weird pink one with the cap is one of the seven printed sculpts, but primed. The clothing is from the wolf boy set and fits the slightly larger Mr Z.
Child figures -> Mr Z body +3d printed heads - Page 2 PSX-20210319-194526

The bald one in the middle is a resin clone of the monk, but it had some bubbles and ears were damaged.

Thanks for the quick review and update. I only handled the Mr. Z body briefly myself, but I think it seems pretty good for what it is (a small, entirely plastic body). Seems to work well enough with several of your ancient kid sculpts...?

The baby on the Obitsu body is so cute!

Your customised 'monk head' girl on the Mr. Z body is just awesome, really like her. ^.^

I like the options and can't wait for more caesar kids. But I'm more interested in how they look painted in the end. But the printed options are nice, given there aren't that many heads to choose from right now.

Thanks for the pioneer work

huh, now those seem to have thrown a tantrum until they were literally blue in the face Wink color me intrigued as to were this is going, but any diorama can profit from some demographic immersion.

personally i'd try for a fist of the north star bart and lynn if only the scale of the figures weren't so off the charts.
