I can’t believe they may already have knock-offs this quickly.   I’m not saying they don’t, just that it sure is a fast turn around. I guess they know the demand is there and people steal samples off the assembly line to use to create the knock-offs.

199 available! Laughing

lol non other than redstar. Why am I not surprised?
I'm guessing those are also "pre-order" items, that would probably never show up.

Also, I deleted the link I posted. I found out it was just another bs listing.

Red_star1689. Yeah that s"&bag. Fauds on ebay are really that common now?

I just saw those hands for the first time today on eBay (as part of the Vicky Secret set). I absolutely have to get those for Nancy (from Hell). Laughing

Oh I'll bet they aren't even knockoffs. Just some other poor quality head, with similar hair tagged on, and maybe a shoddy repaint.

Villa fakes were around less than 2 weeks after it released. Plus dont forget, they dont even need them in-hand to be selling them. They just see how many sell, then order a run of recasts/substitutes and you wait a couple of months for it to arrive. If it arrives at all.

I honestly doubt it's even that.
When I purchased mine, I received a message from them saying it wouldn't arrive until August.
Coincidentally when the 90-day return policy runs out.
So I'm guessing most people just simply won't ever get theirs.
Currently in the process of canceling my order. Aaand unsurprisingly they're being stubborn about it. No

Definitely seems suspect. Especially when they've been selling around 80 and all of a sudden there are batches for 26. I just looked and several more ebay places have them for that price with the exact same pictures.

haha, yea they are great. I saw them in a thread here and they have several different colored glove hand versions as well.

I think you are very wise to cancel. Good luck. I hope you get your money back easily.

Looking at ebay this morning, this seems to be a very popular scam, even among the more reliable sellers. Which is a shame.
Lots of TBLeague heads going for $25 marked as pre order. No way any of them are genuine, given tbleague's heads routinely go for $40+ at a "good" price.

We need to keep our wits about us, especially lately it seems.

Man, still waiting on my full set to arrive. Crying or Very sad

Edit: just checked again, and it seems it finally arrived at the Regional Sorting Facility yesterday, so it should FINALLY arrive today (or tomorrow at the latest).

I dunno about some of the TBL heads, to be fair - I got a couple of Tariah and Killer Kiyoha heads for under £20 each recently, and if they are knock-offs, at least they're good ones (it's possible the KK one is with its green eye shadow - unless there are two official variants). There's also a blonde KK doing the rounds currently which may be a simple replant/wig swap or something more suspect.

Some of those VC Villa knock-off/repaints are truly hideous by comparison.

There are some nice knockoffs around, for sure. But I still prefer to go with the genuine articles, where possible. Mainly because, while looking good, I find the knockoffs are weaker. I have a grabby one year old who just learned to climb!!! My figures have taken a few tumbles lately and 2 of the "suspect" heads have cracked or chipped paint, just hitting the shelf. Whereas my genuine heads have faceplanted my hardwood floor, and lived to tell the tale.

Agreed, some of the VC Villa heads were shocking!! I got so lucky with that one, got a genuine one for $55 from monkeydepot in the end. Think it might have been the only one, as the listing vanished off of their site after i paid! They were going for $90 on ebay at the time! (Still a bargain compared to miss spetsnaz here! 😄).

So, I just received a response from the seller I place an order for this HS. It is indeed a knockoff, made by another company, not VeryCool itself. I'll keep on with the pre-order. I really hope they honor the deal and better yet, hope the knockoff has a decent quality.
Anyway, I'll let you guys posted.

I got those, too. I absolutely love the KK with the green eye shadow and I have the new one with purple eye shadow on preorder. Hopefully it will be as pretty. And hopefully it will arrive.
The Tariah KO is beautiful, too, but the quality is terrible. The inner neck connector didn't seem to be attached to anything so it got pushed in at the first attempt of putting her on a body, and the hair cap came off, too, which I'm sure can be glued back in place, but... arrgh.

Funny...the hair cap coming off is actually a huge plus for me, as it makes re-hairing so much easier. XD

I was lucky enough to get my genuine Villa sculpt parted out soon after release in an ebay bidding war that only I and one other buyer seemed to notice, and it ended up fairly inexpensive. I dread to even imagine how that scenario would play out with that sculpt now. Later I also got a rehaired/repaint version of Villa which is actually very well done, but very dark olive-skinned which sadly makes it a poor match for TBL bodies (I forget who the seller is but he specialises in limited-run repaints and what you see on ebay is pretty much what you get in hand).

Both my Tariah and KK sculpts were fine (the Tariah so much so that I bought another so I could have one with loose hair and one keeping its braids).

I was reading through one seller's feedback and noted that someone was most displeased with the quality of the very cheap Golden Sparta Commander sculpt that's doing the rounds (I always thought that one might be suspect seeing as no-one is offering the other two Sparta Commander sculpts for £20 and under), so that's probably one to avoid.

And I imagine we'll be seeing some Golden Royal Defender knock-offs soon, given how sought-after that sculpt is...

I think the most egregious of the ebay knock-offs is that guy who repaints every sculpt with lifeless doll-eyes and either ghostly-white or lobster pink skin and plonks a bright red wig on them, and then has the nerve to sell them for up to £50. Neutral

His open-mouthed Harley Quinn repaints as a 'singer' and a 'vampire' are especially hilarious, a real dog's dinner out of a sow's ear Smile

At least they were honest about it, which is something. Fingers crossed it's reasonably good quality.

My boxed set (well, mine and PitViper’s actually) finally arrived today. The head sculpt is lovely, though it looks a bit different, and possibly even a bit younger, than the prototype. Not sure now if I’m going to be using it for Lara Croft, or for something completely different.

I'm glad it looks lovely -- sometimes the difference between a prototype and a final product can be both surprising and a let down.

Very cool! Badum dum. Glad it arrived safely!

Finally was able to upload my unboxing and review with some more in hand footage. Hope it's helpful!

Very nice and thorough review, Craig. Despite the issues assembling her, she looks good. It drives me nuts when companies don’t include assembly instructions, regardless of what the figure is. I have a lot of 1:1 military gear and it helps immensely to know how and where things should go (though very little is set in stone when it comes to packing and storing on one’s own body aside from personal preference), but there are people with no background in this sort of thing that would no doubt appreciate some help if they choose to get into genres such as this.

My neck adapter is glued in as well; I might grind down the edges of the cup, and drill the well a bit deeper to see if I can get it to sit and look better.

I pulled up my default “Very Cool 1/6” eBay search this morning, and it’s raining Spetsnaz heads!

I’m in that limbo we all know so well of “I’m not sure I really need this, but am I going to change my mind after she’s made the rounds through all of my favorite online retailers and then end up paying $50 to $100 more three months from now?”

I’m still getting used to the small window you have in 1/6 to make these sort of decisions.  With the mass market 1/12 lines I collect, there’s plenty of time to be indecisive.  Wink

Unfortunately, I've found out the hard way that those $30 Spetsnaz sculpts are pre-sales. Meaning that after the sale they'll give you some bs release date that just so happens to be around the same time ebay's 90 day refund policy has run out.
And once that time has run out, that seller will stop replying for some reason... lol
These guys aren't stupid, they know they can get waaay more than that for these sculpts. And that 1/6 scale collectors know the VC-2052 sculpts are in high demand right now.

Looking forward to see how the ko turns out. Thanks for taking the risk for all of us haha. If it's halfway decent I may grab one to try to custom paint.

Thank you for the review, Craig. Yes, removing the neck adapter is often very helpful, but make sure you don't damage the pretty head.

Hehe, for the time being I'm just keeping the neck gaiter on. Why do companies glue in the neck adapters? I see hot toys does that as well.

Good question. I suppose they think people would hold the figure by the head and maybe even yank it around like a kid would. And if the body fell off and got damaged (or vice versa), they will have to deal with angry customers. Sometimes non-glued adapters (or connectors, as I sometimes also call them) are jammed in very well and hard to remove even without being glued, but often they are quite loose and fall off otherwise -- perhaps this way one would not lose them. Insofar as it is flexible (and I'm sure you've noticed some are more flexible than others), the adapter would expand a little once the neck peg is in it, and that would provide a more secure fit to the body. I remove these adapters on principle, and stuff foamies inside. Of course the connection is less secure, but it makes swapping heads, etc, a lot easier.

Great tip Gubernator. A friend introduced me to thermoplastic which I'm going to try out to make pegs and adapters. Sometimes you just gotta do it yourself to make things work.

Soft adapters help a lot, so let me know how it goes, with the details (there must be dozens of thermoplastics out there). It occurs to me that if it hardens a lot when cool, then you will have to heat it up every time you want to remove it, which can also be a pain.

My friend used it to make a new neck pegs cause the standard ones were too long. I've never used it before so i bought a small bag to try out.
