Hello,
Thank you so much for the awesome, atmospheric pics of the actual fig, GubernatorFan!
I was
about to say, "It's funny that you should post these pics, because...." when I realized that it was
not a mere coincidence.
I must confess a few facts:
1. That figure was my reason for joining this site, although I have never seen a Steve Reeves movie. I need to watch his "Hercules" movie, as I really love his profile on IMDB, with regard to pics, quotes, personality, morals, etc.
2. I actually don't yet own a solitary one sixth figure, although I am hoping to get my first fig sometime soon....should my ship come in.
3. I am on the edge of either doing something right, or landing myself in a total disaster, because, should I end up getting the money that may or may not come in, I am seriously considering getting this exact same figure....in two parts.
You see, there's a body being sold online (I don't know if we're allowed to reference actual sites, URLs, etc., but the title is "Phicen HiPlay 12" Male Seamless Action Figures-Realistic Silicone Body with Male Genitals -1/6 Scale Super Flexible Male Figure Dolls for Arts/Drawings/Photography (M31)", and it's sold, sans a head, but it's shown online paired with an un-painted Steve Reeves head. It's being sold for around $90.00! OUCH!....but if I can snag it, and somehow snag a Steve Reeves head somewhere else, I may be able to put together an entire Steve Reeves-style fig., for use as an original Barbie / My Scene / story-specific male character, or something like that.
Now, I
was looking at other heads on this same site, so that I could substitute a close-to-Steve-Reeves one for the Steve Reeves advertising pic head that
wasn't for sale (Why the Dickens can't they ever just name the actor whose facial sculpt is being used for each head? I can tell when it's, like, Chris Pratt or Brad Pitt, but some of the others escape me), but I can't deny that I'd rather just have the Steve Reeves head.
The reviews for the body
alone aren't promising, because there's been the mention of the hands, the feet, and the privates being a different color than the rest of the body, and of any applicable heads making the fig look like a giraffe-necked being from another planet, or something!
$90 is an awful lot of money for me to be spending on a body alone, just for me to receive a one sixth fig body of mismatched skin tones, sans the sexy Steve Reeves head,
even if that $90 were to suddenly rain down on me like pennies from Heaven.
I have to
admit, though, that the Phicen body option that I have referenced seems more racy and exciting than any other, for obvious reasons, and yet, at the
same time....between the money and the skin tone issues....and the lack of a head to put onto those broad one sixth shoulders, I don't know about the purchase....
nor do I know how, or where to find a reasonably-priced Steve Reeves head, anyway.
Oh, and did I mention the fact that I've never customized any doll or figure before, with regard to using paints or Cray-Pa-style art supplies? I once switched static Barbie legs out for bendable ones, via a lot of hot water and force, and I once re-attached a 1989 Ken leg that had fallen out on Memorial Day, but the unopened customizing paints are gathering dust, and all of the old paint brushes were already sent to the thrift store, because I chickened out once upon a time, with regard to trying to customize. ACK! I'd love to have the nerve to do so someday this year, though.
If anyone has any advice, suggestions, etc., they'd be much appreciated, and I'd be most grateful.
TTYL,
