There is no mention of the scale but it looks pretty close to 1:6 (maybe 1:8 ) and is very cool.

Cheap too. Looks like all he bought was cement, pvc pipes, and some bricks. Everything else is scrounged or scratch-built.

Here he is scratch-building a wind turbine and aquaponics garden.

That certainly was interesting. I often wish I could harness the creek running through my property, but that is expressly forbidden in NY. Very creative and ( possibly ? ) not the first time attempted, since the plan seems to have been well considered before he started.
Thanks for the share!

Very cool. I'd love to turn part of my yard into a sixth-scale diorama environment -- maybe some ruins, structures, etc. But the impact on potential resale value and other things would keep me from even trying.

Very cool indeed! I like your thinking Ian of having a space in the garden for a 1/6 environment.

That’s pretty impressive. This guy is an engineering marvel. I wonder how many mishaps he’s had over the years with that angle grinder.

I was forced to shift to outside dioramas to stop the house from becoming more cluttered. That's how I found the above video - I was looking for ideas for my own yard.

Another one. I like how he uses his drill as a lathe.

Yes, but like I said, I'm not about to try... Sad

I remember those. Hope they have worked out as planned.

As for the mini water pump and rice farm, very impressive.

I started about three months ago and then we went into a hard lockdown. The project needs heavy-duty landscaping materials - rocks, gravel, sand, etc., and I haven't been able to get them. We'll be opening back up next week so I'm going on an expedition to get some. Not next week (the roads and shops will be bedlam with people releasing their stir-crazy), the week after. If the materials were available beforehand, the lockdown wouldn't have bothered me since it would have given me more time to work on it. Now I have to go back to work so tinkering-time will be curtailed. It is the same story - plenty of time but no resources or plenty of resources but no time. It's hard to get the right balance. I envy the guy in these videos - he seems to have plenty of time for these projects and can do a lot with minimal resources.

The other problem is, as you said, the resale value of the property. I don't want to do anything that is permanent so cement is a non-starter. It limits the materials and techniques that are available. I'm going to try and make formal gardens that increase the value of the property but work in some diorama elements - some permanent and some temporary. The trick is using components that complement the garden but don't look out of scale in a 1:6 scene. So I've been learning how to do bonsai and collecting dwarf species of plants.

Makes sense. I hope it works out.
