It’s pretty sad that the better looking Alfred Molina head sculpt of this character is coming from an unlicensed bootleg figure. This is hands down one of the worst head sculpts Hot Toys has ever done — right up there with their equally suck Mark Ruffalo. Jeez! This thing looks like it was sculpted by a blind monkey.

You aren't wrong. I wonder what happened here. I forgot that HT never made Doc Ock the first time, which seems weird in retrospect. Maybe the success of SM No Way Home took HT by surprise, especially in the Covid times, and they are playing catch-up by rushing a headsculpt out too fast. The timing does seem weird -- normally you'd expect to see it announced in advance of the movie release date, or alternatively long after, once it's an established classic, but not commonly at the fading tail end of the theatrical release.

I'm glad I didn't imagine they had done this already. I agree, while there is something of Alfred Molina in the sculpt, the likeness is somehow off.

Yea, JC Hong posted that. I'm pretty sure he posted that to quiet all the fan outcry. Only problem sometimes is that Hot toys won't release the updated sculpts until it's released/final product pics. Hopefully they'll show something before then though.
