4 RAR (Commando) East Timor ca 2001

My first of a 4 figure dedication to the 4 RAR (Commando) unit of the Australian Army. Designated special forces in 1996, they were amongst the stabilisation force sent to East Timor in 1999. Bbi uniform, on a dam v3 body, E&S boots (I know they’re not right but I like them and they’re pretty close in colour to redbacks). Chest rig was from a three zero figure, I just redid the pouches to the front rather than rear. The vest under thst is custom. It was black, but I got 2 sheets of material and covered it. Looks rough, but on the figure it looks ok to me. Also teasing custom auscam helmet covers I’m making.

Looks pretty good for all the custom work. The patches look great.

I agree, they look great. And a nice use of Stifler.

Looks really great, those patches are very clear and readable too. I like how happy that other guy looks.

Haha thanks…it’s actually a much better scalp in person than it looked online.

Nice, were did you get sheets on mini camo?

Watched a Easy&Simple Factory tour once were they had several rolls of tiny camo fabric in storage haha.

And that Stifler looks like a great comrade.

That’s cool! I got it from Ric Raynor’s spoonflower store. Really cheap too.

This is my 2nd attempt at recovering a PASGT helmet - I took an old bbi one off, saw how they had done it and used as a template. Still but perfect but should be better again on my 3rd

Maaan that's looking so good! Love the helmet work, too.

Thanks! I think I’ve perfected the helmet now on 3rd go. This was the dam USMC urban warfare helmet with original cover removed and then redone. The chest rig was a Flagset 75th Ranger in desert tiger which I’ve attempted a repaint…could perhaps do with some more brown or a different shade.

A light wash or two might help with the brown, really love the look of those fellas, and that head sculpt seems just so suitable for an Aussie to me.

I dunno why exactly but I've got a soft spot for Aussies in the forces. Just started watching Danger Close last night, about the battle of Long Tan during Vietnam. Kinda got me hankerin' to put together one of those fellas.
