Aww, what a beautiful picture. Great choices all around, especially the heads! Nice to see such a hunk of a guy with such a sweet smile. And the way she looks at him... You matched their lines of sight beautifully, too! Well done! I love you

Thank you, Diana, I'm glad you approve! I do try to switch up the heads I show a bit (you've seen her already, but not this hair version). And I do admit I took a few photos before getting the right pose and angle.

Somehow I missed your last two pics, Ian. Sorry about that. Love the fireplace scene. And I’m guessing when you’re folks picked the date for their wedding International Women’s Day didn’t exist. That’s a more modern thing because apparently there aren’t enough days where we’re expected to buy flowers and/or jewelry (thanks no doubt to Hallmark, florists and jewelers).

Thank you very much, Mark, I'm glad you liked them.
As for International Women's Day, apparently it goes back to the US in 1909 (looked it up). It was a Socialist party thing then and was accordingly promoted in countries under Communist rule. No candy or jewelry involved, as far as I know, although flowers were, often. My mom (who was an architect) relates that the top boss would make the rounds, greeting each female employee with a handshake and an unsolicited kiss. The employees were understandably very ambivalent about that "honor," but both employment status and totalitarian political dogma kept them from protesting. Quite ironic, really, considering the purpose of the thing. So when I congratulate her on both their anniversary and on this, it is with a lot of teasing irony (for the above, and the family suffering a lot from Communist authorities). But if we look past such paradoxes and political/rhetorical implications, I think the intentions were good, and quite forward looking over a hundred years ago.

But isn't it? Smile I like John Cena, he has amazing comedic potential, and I think the makers of the series tapped into that.

Thank you, Oliver, I'm glad you liked them. Apparently it is in China too, but only for women!

Thank you, glad you liked them, Simon. And LOL. I think I can probably recreate that Cena look... perhaps I need to recolor another body pale.

Have you seen the third-party Peacemaker/Cena head sculpts? They're supposed to supplement the Hot Toys release. Could be promising.

I'm not sure if they are the same, but I've pre-ordered one. Actually, it would be my 4th John Cena head sculpt, if and when it gets here.

Ok, I checked today, and the one I've preordered is by Present Studio or Present Toys rather than SooSoo, which is the one you're showing. Present Studio/Toys's is just a head. Looks pretty good on the prototype.

Thanks, this one was from a military set (DAM's Russian Spetsnaz FSB Alpha Group Gunner) and not one of the specific Conor McGregor heads, though it is based on him.

Good luck with the move!

23. Happy Easter!

Seeking to amaze his beloved with the biggest and sparkliest Easter egg ever, John incurred the wrath of a majestic bird of prey.

Who would have thought it would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Yes it is. To be honest, I was trying to take the photo with a 1:1 (fake) crow, but it didn't work well... so I figured a bald eagle can be expected to have a big blue egg... Smile But yes, friendship is the biggest prize.

Stryker2012 wrote:Nice pic of Cena. Is that a custom sculpt?

Thanks, Mark, I'm glad you like it. Yes and no. It is custom-painted, by me, but the sculpt was from a 12-inch hard plastic open-jointed figure by whoever makes these WWE toys. I have used it before (in some of the myriad photos for the M35 review), but repainted it recently. I now have three different Cena heads, waiting on a fourth but GianToy hasn't sent it yet, as far as I know...

Thank you very much, Dal, you too! And yes, that smug smirk is priceless. Perhaps not the most realistic head sculpt (then again, it is based on a much younger John Cena), but I love it. Since I reconstituted the HT Punisher outfit on a TBL seamless body, I wanted an unmasked head (HT came so close to making one and yet fell short of it), so this is one of my options.
