Funny, how the first 1/6 TBL release since the censorship issue is one with a fish tail. Nice one!

They look nice, but are somewhat lacking for me. Not sure what it is. The blue version would have been interesting as a full body for an alien character, but I respect the choice for a decently posable fish tail a lot.

Nice face! An unusual and welcome departure for TBL, no doubt thanks to there actually being a partnership with an actual franchise and external designer.

Beautiful shells. The "shark"... whatever. Nice base.

It's a shame this is just an upper torso, but the figure does look nice!

I won't be getting it, but I'm curious to see what people do with this figure.

It would have been nice if there had been two different heads for one figure. Like the metamorphosis of the Pirates of the Caribbean mermaids. Then I might have become weak to buy the figure.

Oh, I would like to praise the idea for the decorative figure stand. This is a good solution for placing such a figure that cannot stand nicely in the display case.

Well, Ephiane, not everyone can make their own mermaid as perfectly as you can.
And I second Diana's question: Mark, how many will you get?
I like both versions, and I think the heads are an improvement on TBLeague's usual style, while the poseable tail is inspired. In principle, ever the kitbasher, I would have liked it even better if the design allowed for a combination of a full normal body and a poseable fish tail, so that the mermaid could metamorph into a human. But still very cool. Yes, the actual fish sidekick is least successful.

Edit to answer your question, Ian: At least one of the blue, and maybe 2 of the normal skin tone (will probably change one of the heads).

I was thinking about that, but not sure how to do it. I’ve tried acrylic paint on a figure (part of it), and it didn’t work all that well. And I tried SilcPig (I think that’s the name), and that didn’t work at all — just washed off, and didn’t stick good to begin with. Not sure how you could paint these. I think just changing the heads for variety (maybe using different “jewelry” would also help add variety).

Yes, I think you could add variety through different headsculpts, different hair colours, and different adornments.

If the tails are the same TPE type material as the bodies, then you could possibly also 'tint' them a little bit with oil pastels. Like make one a bit more purple-y toned, and one a bit more green toned, etc.

Mark, Silc-Pig is meant to be mixed with silicone or silicone glue. It should not wash or run off, but it might be possible to peel it off. Working with silicone, however, is a pain, unless one is fully equipped and prepared for it.

I did that. Still didn’t adhere to the figure. Probably because these aren’t really silicone.

Hmmm, odd, that, although the fact TBLeague use TPE instead of actual silicone probably does explain it. I've only used it for nipples, and those were on pretty well.

So you're going to have a mermaid party, aren't you? And a while series of photo stories. Now you need a sufficiently Daryl Hanah sculpt and a Tom Hanks one, and you'll be well on your way.

Can't wait to see Mark's sea of mermaids!
