I'm not a fan of the Star Wars movies, but you spent a hell of a lot of time putting this together.

Nice photos, Dal. One of the very few post-Original Trilogy sets that I own.

Nice.
The styrofoam works quite well for the walls.

Thanks Ian Very Happy . Yeah, I agree, he is a great character and makes an interesting looking figure too.

Cheers Vis, although, I think they could do with a coat of paint maybe?

Yeah, paint would make it even better.

Not a new figure, but ever since getting Sidious, I wanted to compare him to an older (in most senses except for actor's age) rendition of the character.
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_8348

This is an Amazon-exclusive (I think) release with a throne and several heads. But he was later released without the throne as an Archive figure - much easier to find now.
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_8347

Other heads are stored somewhere, and I can find them, but didn't.
He also comes with lightning hands, same as with Sidious I think
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_8349

Unlike Sidious, he has a robe made entirely of soft goods, including the hood - which I very much prefer:
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_8350
Mr Galaxy Far Far Away beauty contest

The robe covers most of the body: there are some plastic pieces here and there - belt, boots, inner robe, but no joints are visible, so he is Mezco-style as far as I am concerned.
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_8351

Same can be said about Emperor's Royal Guards, to some extent. Their capes cover them completely, but jointed arms can be seen through when they are extended. Not on the photo below, though:
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_8352

So this corner of my collection is already up to my preference. And Luke in this style is pretty close - there are reports of him already shipping.
Just need a Vader without visible joints. Something to think about.

I also need to make some sort of throne room diorama. Most likely 3d-print the window
like this:

Nice comparison of the figures, Visisonor. My emperor figure is cursed. I tried to shoot it for a review a couple of times, and both times had problems with my computer or monitor. So do be careful. Or maybe it was just mine. Smile There is a fine somewhat flattened Japanese window backdrop with stairs you can find on eBay. Also, there are 3D printed even more accurate window sections, but they might be in scale for the 1:18 figures. Of course, at either of these scales, you could just use the image as displayed on the monitor.

You guys inspired me to share a couple of recent acquisitions: the Rebel Trooper & Stormtrooper 2-pack and the Rebel Commando. The latter comes with swappable bearded and smooth-shaven faces, much like the Hoth Rebel Trooper did. The Rebel (Fleet) Troopers are apparently a reissue of the same figure, previously sold individually. The Stormtroopers are very similar but not quite identical, paint-wise, to the Rogue One Stromtroopers Hasbro released previously. The paint job is just a little off, for example on the lenses, but it is not too obvious. The paint on the rebel figures seemed pretty much flawless.
I added a few more figures for the presentation (prepared but forgot to add C-3PO and R2D2); Vader is the only one that is not by Hasbro.

Very nice, Ian! You have really great backgrounds!
However, something isn't right...unfortunately for the glorious empire, stormtroopers almost never hit.

Wow, that's an awesome army!
Stormtroopers win by sheer numbers, but rebels put up a fight Smile
I have two of these Rebel troopers,
Star Wars Black Series figures. - Page 4 Cnr_0012

And also two Hoth troopers - quite similarly to Rebel Commandos they are versatile army builder with swappable faces and many ways to change their looks

Is this Mafex Rogue One Vader with SHF cape?

And Space Walls backgrounds? (IIRC they went out of business after acquiring official license; another thing killed by Disney)

Thank you very much. The backgrounds are not my own work (see below). Also, have you seen the beginning of A New Hope? Stormtroopers can shoot when there is no plot armor. Smile

Thank you very much. I love the Hoth troopers, and was pleasantly surprised to see the same approach with the Rebel Commandos. Yes, that is indeed the Rogue One Mafex Vader, but with a Hasbro outer cape. The backdrops are indeed the 6-inch scale Space Walls by GTP (Galactic Trading Post). Which is indeed defunct. Sad

Thank you very much, Jonathan, I'm glad you like them. The scary part is, I have more... just mostly not Hasbro ones, so I decided not to try to mix them. Smile

Your photos are really pretty.

I also bought this kind of figurine, 1/12, but next to my TB league 1/12 it looks ugly and toy-like.
You really know how to highlight them and compose pretty images
