Hello!

This time I was late for the weekend but I had to do some stuff so I switched the day around. As I've said in my aqualish mercenary I buy hasbro/kenner stormtrooper stuff often simply because it's cheap, tho the helmets leave a lot to be desired they don't bother me (at least too much) and since I'm going to risk it by cutting open the forearm armor and thigh armor and the chest piece and all that it might as well be cheap! Originally I was going to make a sandtrooper but I got carried away with the weathering so I turned him into an Arid World Specialist, which means he's a sandtrooper but with a cool sounding title.
Some background info on them.

Imperial Arid Specialists (IAS) are often times sent into worlds whose arid conditions surpass that of what the average Sandtrooper is trained to deal with, these men and women of the empire are trained to survive in conditions that would drive any other Imperial Sandtrooper to madness, their armor while retaining the same look of those worn by the Stormtroopers has been specifically designed to withstand extreme heat, sandstorms and to keep the trooper cooler, as such it is heavier and requires some more maintenance to keep in tip top shape. IAS aren't well known around the galaxy due to them operating far from populated centers, usually hunting down rebel bases hidden in the sand or rescuing Imperial property that has been lost in some arid world.

That's all for now folks, I might post some more Star Wars inspired and random sci-fi ones in the upcoming weeks since I think I posted enough real world soldiers 😃. Since monday is tomorrow (or maybe it is already monday!) Have a good week, stay safe and try to have fun whenever you can.

Hey, stop trying to rush through Sunday! It's my one day off... Smile But, seriously, very cool work on the old Kenner/Hasbro 1/6 figure. The weathering and selection of items is very suitable and inventive (part stormtrooper, part snowtrooper, all arid specialist), and even the underlying sculpt's details and proportions are improved by your treatment to the point where they look more realistic and carry a more Original Trilogy vibe. And all that is very good in my book.

Thanks, I'm actually surprised he looks so nice in the photos, up close and personal he doesn't look like much and the oversized helmet becomes more noticeable. I forgot to mention that the shoulder armor is not kenner/hasbro, but Lego (its the same on another figure but I forgot whom) it comes from two lego kylo rens that I bought out of curiosity to see what I could re-use and to my surprise the shoulders worked well.

Ah... cool idea. Lego did make an awesome stormtrooper helmet for their 10 inch (?) stormtrooper, so I'm not surprised there are other usable pieces from such sets. Unfortunately that helmet would be palpably too small for a bash like yours.

You are correct, the helmets/heads are smaller than the height of the figures(?) which are about 11 inches tall.

Nice one, I like how the armor is neither white nor brown nor red, but also all of those colours combined somehow. While the helmet does look very different from the regular ones, I think the look of it can be easily sold as intentional, some kind of special arid extra ventilated filter fine dust breathing device helmet (SAEVFFDBDH...?)..or whatever those guys who illustrate those Star Wars Tech books come up with.

That LEGO idea is quite clever. If they ever made 1/6 scale figures they might earn some extra money....but maybe they are not allowed to, who knows.

Thanks, you know those helmets can fit a whole TIE fighter in them if its needed, I jest but I liked your idea and how you explained the helmet. For the armor's color I used a sand paint that I thinned out a bit and applied a few coats of it, for the weathering I just used a mixture of dry brushing and very watered down acrylic paints of different dirt/sand colors, I also used an old toothbrush for the splatter and also learned that there's no such thing as concentrated splatter. 😅

I've used lego pieces in the past, for a few 1/6 bashes, I need to post a battle droid that I used lego ball joints to give it shoulder movements, sadly I don't know what the full name of them are as I've looked up those ball joints and come across the older ones, these ones I used where a bit smaller.

Thanks, I had feared that I went a bit overboard with the weathering.
