Thanks, Asta. I’m still working on the finishing touches, and need to clean up a lot of unnecessary paperwork.

Coming together nicely! Truly a place to escape when needed!

On another note:

Thanks, blackpool. Believe me, my wife sometimes has to drag me out of there.

An amazing space! Could never have this much room in most UK houses, le sigh!!  Sad

Things I am most envious of: the craft/sewing table, and....the library!!! I have always wanted my own library/study.

Looking forward to seeing how you incorporate the Jabba's Palace diorama into your man cave! Very Happy

That work bench IS awesome — and super heavy. Right now, everything is off the bench except for the mock-up of Jabba’s throne, which takes almost the entire 8’ of the bench, but overhangs by several inches on the width. Ultimately the Jabba display will go to the left of the door to that room — which can be seen in the photo with my desk-top computer (it’s the last free space in there); I had to move the book case that was there to Room 2 of the Man-Cave (the Music Room — which is finally starting to get put together, but I haven’t taken pictures of yet).

OK, call me stupid because i am, LOL.  I saw the first picture, and thought the big girls were your 1/6 scale and that you crammed a ton of stuff into your diorama!  LOL

Not to say we always get along, but my husband mostly supports me with my hobbies, though he warns me I can't spend so much.  I also support him any way I can with his.  Its one of the best things about our marriage. Now if we could stop arguing politics, LOL....

Very cool space, but for a proper man-cave it needs to have more vomit stains and food crumbs on the floor. Smile

Haha. I don’t think I’d have the time or skill to make a diorama that as complex as the entire room.

Don’t worry if politics is all you argue about, that’s a pretty minor thing in the long run — as long as you can do it without coming to fisticuffs. Smile

If I had this space 35 years ago... that probably would have been the case. Laughing

Thanks. Right now it's a pig-sty, but sadly, a lot of the figures in the cabinets in these photos are now packed away, as I have even more figures now than I did then -- and I just don't have the room for everything. Hopefully, some day, I'll get off my lazy butt and clean it up and start taking more photos. I bought one of the those photo-tent things to start taking pictures of things, but honestly the LED lights that came with it are pretty crap (as evidenced by the latest photos I took of my Cigar Girl), and really don't light as bright as I would like. It's going to take me months to get things cleaned up and organized at this point, and I'm still trying to build up my Jabba display cabinet, so looking after the crap show that is this Man-Cave is pretty low on the list of priorities sadly.

Ok, I looked over the old photos, and, without knowing how much (and what) else has found its way in there (apart from the glory that is the Jabba diorama), I will make two observations:

1. While it might not be ideal from an aesthetic point of view, the dedicated display space can have figures placed in it in much tighter formation, possibly tripling the capacity.

2. You can probably place additional shelving/bookcases on top of the bookcases, which do not reach the ceiling, thereby adding a significant amount of additional display space -- of course it won't be as cool as the Detolfs (?), but it will be something.

3. Consider some narrow (computer/typewriter) tables (if not bookcases -- is there such a thing?) on wheels, which you can use to store items that are either boxed or very stable, and which you can wheel in and out of position as needed to get to other stuff.

bounce bounce  More figures means more display room needed, but I guess it will be slow going. It's surprising how quickly our little friends have a habit of sneaking in lol! lol! lol! . I'm sure you'll find a way to display all your figures in time Very Happy . Lighting figures can be tricky, I posted what I use in your cigar girl thread, but also using mirrors to reflect light back onto figures can work pretty good Very Happy Very Happy

Stryker2011 wrote:Still a WIP. Need to finalize cleaning and putting stuff away. But this is pretty much it in a nutshell. Moving around too much tends to make me ill, so it's slow going. Believe it or not, the wife helped me carry that monster butcher-block table top into the basement. Not doing too much today, not feeling well, so I decided to take a few quick pics.

Hey I've got the same globus bar full of Scotch and Bourbons (still a bit small, but it looks nice) Cool

Nice seeing pics of your mancave and collection. So cool.

Thanks all for checking out the madness. It's a daunting task at the moment just walking into this space and not feeling overwhelmed. I'd like to be able to display all of my figures at one time, but I feel if I just jam them all in tightly, that it'd look no better than the floor at the moment. It's like a hoarder's nightmare in this place. I seem to have taken on one too many projects at the moment and can't seem to concentrate on getting any of them done. I have so many half-assembled figures lying all over the place it's not funny (including figures I've had for years!).

How is the "Hoarder's Nightmare" looking these days? Have you built an addition so you can get everything out and on display?

How about a photo-illustrated update on the current state of the most simultaneously inspiring and envy-inducing figure space I've ever seen? Wink

Oh, my God! If you saw it today, you'd be like "This guy needs help for his hoarding addiction!" The whole room is an absolute mess. Every surface has open boxes, figures lying everywhere, no room to actually work. My desk is cluttered with WIP stuff and things that need to be fixed, and I just don't have it in me at the moment to clean any of it up. It looks like a freaking bomb went off in a toy store. I can't even get to my book shelves, or the DVD/blu-ray library part of the room, and the plexiglass I bought for the Jabba the Hutt display is now on the "workbench" covered with a bunch of stuff as well (it needs some sanding and polishing to get rid of some scratches that it came with -- very pissed about that -- before I can put it on the viewing frame).

lol!   Razz  lol!

Don't worry, I'm laughing with you (before we both break down sobbing), not at you!  That sounds like the constant state of whatever my "hobby space" is at any given time, whether it be in the storage shed, or the garage, or the dining table, or the top of a nightstand, or the kitchen counter... you know.

At least you have a space in which to contain the chaos.

Or... does it find its way out to the rest of the house?

Sounds like my office... and my storage room... and my walk-in-closet combined, but much more impressive than all of them... Smile But you know, historically, that was what these (man)caves were for ... serving as cache for treasures (and sometimes mummies)... Smile
Hey, better have it than not have it.

Impressive room. Lots of cool stuff in there.

Same for the other rooms posted as well.

I have one small corner of my basement, and it looks like a hoarders paradise in there, full of storage totes, unopened kits, partially build/unfinished bashes, organizer bins, and ref books.... and it still looks like a bomb went off in all of that haha. Too much stuff, and not enough space.

for a very short while, I will feel better and think that I do not have THAT much stuff after all. lol!

Thanks, All. Sadly, I have probably tripled my collection since these initial photos were taken, and the entire space is a disaster that I have to carefully move thru (like a true hoarder). I really need to fine tune and curate the collection better. May need to start selling stuff.
