I think Thanos' intentions, though warped into supervillainy, were always honorable. As for the head, well that's what happened when (a) HT undersized the original body (the source for this knockoff), then corrected all proportions for later versions (the origin of the head), and (b) it's that chin. Head on, the chin makes the head look even larger than it is, and substantially so. I was looking at the photos, and in every photo where the head is turned and you see it in something close to profile, it seems to work much better in terms of proportions, because the protruding jawline is off to the side allowing you to appreciate the smaller size of the rest of the head. But yes, since he's an alien, I suppose we don't need him to have a head that is proportional by human standards.
