To be fair, pictures can logically be "before" and "after" without there necessarily being any difference Smile I think they did make a mistake. Otherwise, unless the pics are merely a computer render, it would be impossible for two actually different faces to have every strand of hair in the identical positions.

They straightened out the jawline in the right pic. Looks much better. That chin had turned me off a potential purchase right away. Anyway. Bored. ^^

Jaw line got fixed with more realistic and fully shape in the AFTER photo.

Now I am on the fence...

Thanks Diana! My eyes were going crosseyed haha.

Finally got her. Head's not perfect but it's close enough for me. I think the face needs to be wider but it is definitely better than the Super Duck version in my opinion. The body supplied seems too big for her head so I ended up putting her on a TBLeague S10D body after reviewing her Smile

Thank you for your video review. I agree with your comments -- the head came out great and appears to be more accurate to the source, the body and especially neck they provided is not ideal. I'm glad you found a better alternative. Actually, it looks like you mixed and matched heads, bodies, and outfits at the end. One suggestion -- if the head is sitting a little too high on the S10D body, consider removing the internal neck connector (if any, and if possible), and replacing that with blue tack or foamies to achieve a more realistic look.

Thanks! Actually that's something I was about to ask for help with here lol! Can you please suggest a way on how to remove the connector from the head? I haven't done it on a 1/6 scale head so I'm not confident that my idea would work lol!

The connector seems to be a somewhat soft rubber. I was able to use a toothpick to slide into a tiny gap and the connector actually warped and seems like something I could pull out. Unfortunately the toothpick isn't strong enough and they would break while I was trying to loosen up more of the connector. The connector would then go back to its original shape after pulling out the toothpick.

I was thinking that maybe I could use a hair blower to heat up the connector and soften it up to make extraction easier, but I'm afraid it would mess up the paint on Tifa's face. I remember one time on 1/12 scale toys, although rare, sometimes the paint would "melt away" when heated with a hair blower. I'm also wondering if it would be safe to dip her head in hot faucet water but I'm worried the same "paint melts away" problem would occur.

Thanks! Very Happy

If you have a Dremel, carefully drill the hole in the head a bit deeper (very, very small increments at a time) and try it on the body of your choosing. For neck connectors that are glued in, I don't even bother trying to remove them. You just have to make sure you pick the body you want to use permanently the first time around.

Oh unfortunately I don't have a dremel or drill. I haven't used those, I fear I might destroy the head, yikes!

I believe you will be safe heating up the head from underneath with a hair dryer. Never had an issue doing that to head sculpts in this scale, although I do not own this particular product. I wouldn't hesitate to try. You only need to heat it up for about a minute.

Extraction depends, naturally enough, on how well stuck or glued the inside neck connector is. Many heads come with one that is not glued and very lose; others are jammed in and stuck without being glued, others yet are glued in place (my least favorite ones). You get the most versatility if the inside neck connector is removable or removed; I often remove them on principle, and keep them around in case I ever need them (although I generally rely on foamies instead).

If the neck connector is not glued in very securely, you should be able to get it out, with or without heating it, using "needle-nosed" pliers -- or given the relatively large indent, perhaps other relatively small pliers. If you are unable to just yank it out, get a good grip, and try to rotate the pliers to pull the neck connector free from the nearby sides of the neck hole. Proceed around the sides of the neck hole, loosening it. If this is too difficult, heat it up. Keep in mind that if you soften it up enough, this process might result in tearing off parts of the inside neck connector, without dislodging the whole thing. This can be a little frustrating, but it gets the job done -- eventually, bit by bit -- or perhaps simply removing some of the inside neck connector material (not necessarily the whole thing) would be sufficient for your purposes of getting the head to sit a little lower.

If all else fails, I do recommend a rotary tool like Dremel. You do not need the fanciest models, and they tend to come in with a basic kit of bits. Stick the head in a clean transparent plastic bag, hold it firmly (keep the hair away too) in one hand, while reaching in with the tool held in the other hand, at some medium speed setting, and carefully stripping away the sides and top of the inside neck connector. Proceed slowly, so you can stop whenever you want. It is extremely unlikely you would have to bore deep enough to damage the head (go through it) -- stop and check on the figures, in stages. Do be careful with the aim, you don't want to accidentally scrape a visible surface on the edge or outside of the head sculpt.

The following tutorials in the Tutorials section might be helpful in relation to this, although they do not specifically address the issue of extracting the inside neck connector.

Thanks for the info and the comics lol!

Before checking back here, I managed to use a tiny wedge screwdriver and pry most of the rubber connector from the walls. Still glued deep inside. Then just for experiment, instead of drilling, I used the wedge screwdriver to dig inside the connector. It seems I'm making progress. Slow but it's actually working. I'll dig some more later, my fingers are tired Very Happy

I had a similar problem with tbleague s35 head that I got from ebay to put it on a s33 body, the head connector was too small, made of semi-hard rubber, I managed to take it off by pushing it inside the head (there are two pegs holding it, one in the mouth area and another on the back of the head), then used tweezers to bring out the mouth of the connector, then used a thin screw driver to pull it out by pressing it with my thumb. I used bandaid tape on the neck ball joint to finish, hope it helps Very Happy

Adeno

Thanks for the tip! I found a proper screwdriver and just pushed into the connector and screwed until it went deeper. Problem solved, no more gap Very Happy Maybe I'll go deeper, but for now I think she looks fine Smile

She actually looks better in your photos than she does in the promos! It has to do with the bust for sure, because that shirt looks much better on the S10D.

And the head is gorgeous.

Yeah, the body she came with was simply not her actual body type. She's more fit, toned, but still very sexy, not very muscular despite being able to punch and kick giant mechanical enemies into the air lol Smile

I think her hair also plays a part in whether or not she looks like Tifa. When she arrived, her hair was very tightly wrapped by some kind of plastic, which made her hair hug her face too much. After playing around with her hair a bit, it loosened up and became more natural just like in the game. That made her look more like Tifa. Now that I think about it, many characters would be hard to recognize if you changed their hairstyle!

Anyway here's a video of Tifa's awesomeness in the game that I found, she's really a charming character.

She looks great, Adeno! You must really like the figure to put this much effort into her. I’m finding that my favorite figures are the ones that frustrate me at first, but really start to come together as I work on them.

Thanks! Oh yeah, back in the 90s, Tifa was the first video game lady that made me think "Oh my lord, I wish she was real!" hahaha Wink She was always part of my group in the original game!
