I think it was more because the gaffers placed blue gels over the lights. This brings us to another question: Why is there always so much light in the caves in ST: TOS?

Essentially the same photo as the preceding one, but so as to give more prominence to the coloured gels...also using different coloured gels than the previous photo. The idea of both was to try to recreate that very 1960's use of strong coloured lighting in ST: TOS and I think the second one....this one gets closer to the heart of the matter.
