An interesting post came up on a facebook group I frequent talking about the relationship between Phicen and ER I thought some here would be interested in.
"Despite what I was told by my reps at Phicen, it seems that the relationship between them and Executive Replicas is over.
ER is the group that obtains the rights to license these figures from their respective owners.......for example, ARH Comix licenses their characters to ER, and ER licenses the toy rights to Phicen. As you've already seen, the last two years, ER has been going with a manufacturer that only makes 1/12 scale figures, and jointed ones at that. So they've left the 1/6 scale market entirely it seems. The last figure they were collaborating on was the Taarna Heavy Metal figure, sadly. It was cancelled, I believe, due to the partnership falling apart.
Personally speaking, I've spoken several times of the "issues" I've had with ER's owner, Winston Dunlop. He's known wide and far to be very hard to work with. Despite this, I was looking forward to owning that Taarna figure (finally, after years of begging Phicen to make one), and also for the ARH mermaid, of which a prototype was made, photographed, and even shown on ARH's own page as "coming soon".
The mermaid bit in particular seemed to be of interest to people here since I've seen more than one member talk about it before. I knew ER was the licensee of some older properties, but I didn't know they also were in charge of ARH's stuff too. A lot of Phicen's earlier figures were ARH figures. Doesn't seem like we'll be getting anymore ARH charcters- including the mermaid. Unless Phicen decides to make their own mermaid.
