The success of these would be entirely dependent on quality and cost. As open-jointed hard plastic bodies, I expect we would be covering them up pretty much completely. That said, I'm ambivalent about the ankles, especially when the foot bends backward.

These types of action bodies should come with the hinged toes like (I think it’s one of the military figure makers) use. Or at the very least, two pairs of feet, one with bent toes.

I agree, all bodies should have either hinged or (better) alternative feet (like female bodies coming with flat and high heels feet). Hinged toes would only be really useful barefoot, and ideally you shouldn't see a hinge if the foot is bare. ACI used to provide both flat and bent toe feet with their base bodies. More recently that exclusive Ryu TBLeague base body had both flat and bent toe feet, but they would not easily work for most regular bodies out there, besides being rare to find. Jiaou provides two sets of feet with their bodies, but the bent toes option is so slightly bent that it might as well not be provided.

The hinged toe was meant to be used under soft goods military shoes/boots, so you could put the figure in a reasonable kneeling “shooter” position. Not really meant to be seen.

I understand the principle, but I doubt even soft goods military boots would be soft enough for it to play much of a role.

from the pictures, those bodies look like crap to me... awful knees and elbows, even once covered with clothes... same for the ankles, the details on the hands look really cheap as well.

Feels like seeing a third party body from 8-10 years ago

The double jointed knees and elbows makes sense to be able to get those kinds of poses (but, yes, they are ugly), but yeah, the shiny cheap looking (and reality, probably) factor is there.

Personally, I'm all for them, provided they stand unassisted, and are about the price point of a Coo Model.
