What a gorgeous "samurai" set. The level of intricacy with these has always amazed me, but this might be even more intricate than the ones I remember.
Takeda Shingen is a real Japanese lord (daimyo) from the 16th century, and was indeed nicknamed the "Tiger of Kai." I don't know to what extent this is based on history or some movie or series, or both.

FULLY agree, the level of detail is bonkers.
I have read a few places that the COOmodel samurais can be a bit of a pain to assemble, although i dont have one [or can afford one haha]

Me neither, although I have assembled a couple of out-of-armor samurai from parted-out sets. The closest to a samurai set I have is actually an ashigaru musketeer.

DiD made Takeda Shingen as well, in a "Young" version, which represents the Samurai on my shelf.   They even remade him in 1/12 scale https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/product/variationdetails/185761 though I have never had one in hand.  IMHO, those DiD Samurai are quite underrated.  At their original prices, I'd say they are something like 3/4 as good as the Coo for 1/2 the price (but those prices frequently get jacked way up on EBay now, which negates the recommendation).  There is this Takeda Shingen as well which seems generously priced EBay Takeda Shingen but I know nothing about it.

Coomodel Samurai are like the moon - Beautiful, but out of reach and to be admired from afar. Razz  Another state of the Art Coo figure.

Well assembling Samurai armor being complicated isn't COO's fault I guess, it's just detailed Samurai armor being detailed Samurai armor.  Very Happy  One has to learn the binding techniques etc.

I got two of those old DiD Samurai, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Date Masamune, parted out as a comission payment. The bodies and heads aged of course and I replaced them with newer heads (although no Samurai hairstyles) and Coomodel bodies, the pleather disintegrated (but there wasn't much used), Toyotomi's helmet had a rubberband that aged badly and the armguard is using a mesh instead of real metal rings, but the rest held up really well, armor itself is mostly metal and cord.

I documented it here:

Absolutely true. I appreciate that they went the extra mile(s) to make it more realistic than many other companies would have tried. And that does make it more accurate and more educational.

I really like it but the pieces don't belong in the same panoply. The large shoulder guards date back to when samurai were primarily horse archers but the mail on the sleeves date to after the Dutch started trading with Japan. Still, not enough to stop me from buying it. The level of detail is exquisite.
