Iconiq's website states "One (1) specifically created fully articulated seamless body (ICONIQ EXCLUSIVE)"
so I assume they're calling the shots, not TBL.

I'll probably wait for their Guile with normal hands if i want to buy just for the body... but then it'll have the flag tattoo... dang it, i can't win!

Looks like the pegs are standard tbl, so you can change the head to a custom easily

Unless the neck is too thick to fit into a regular head.

Sure, in the vid he explains it with not wanting a gap between the neck and the head. So sure, not every head will fit, but having the peg size is nice

Too bad this bod is exclusive to this figure as it's a really useful body.  Huge, comic super hero style muscles with an aesthetically pleasing sculpt (a lot of other bods tend to be overly gritty/tendony looking).

Does it seem kind of irrational that there is going to be an interesting, attractive figure body that nevertheless doesn't get into general circulation, even though it's fully designed, all the molds exist, etc?  There won't be even one made with "clean" hands and feet, though it would be so easy.  And the kicker is that the body exclusivity makes the figure unnecessarily more expensive, so the buyers pay unnecessarily more.  If TBL could normally amortize the design and molds costs etc of this body to future figures or loose body sales, presumably they would have charged somewhat less to Iconiq for supplying it, and then the precisely identical Ryu could have cost a bit less.  Sometimes the Free Market sucks.

Selling the body separately would just hurt this SF line.  The body is a key selling point.  I understand why IconiQ would not make it available separately right now.  Let's see in a few years though -- We might get the body sold separately if the SF line runs its course.  Or it might be so successful that it inspires competitors like Jiaou Doll to make their own.

To clarify though, I think this Ryu figure looks incredible and I wish Iconiq the best.  1/6 Fans getting together to release unique figures done at a high quality, what's not to love?   Go for it, Iconiq!

When you take in account the price of a Phicen TBLeague body, Ryu can appear to be expensive.
What has to be taken into account is, the Ryu body has been made exclusively for this figure.
Ryu ships with 2x Portraits, 2x Pairs of feet, a number of hands and 2x portraits. Not to mention,
various accessories. Early Pre_orders include FREE shipping Smile

I wanted to support the project. The more successful the project is, the greater the chances are
of more characters appearing in the future.

Yes, i have placed a pre_order Smile

1min 2seconds into the video, Iconiq appear to tease Ken. I would assume Ken would make use of the same body as Ryu

Two Street Fighter V characters i would like to see happen include Chun-Li and Laura Matsuda

The title of this thread could use fixing, from IconiqStudios to Iconiq Studios, as it fails to show up in the search when searching 'Iconiq' as there should be a space between Iconiq and Studios Smile

Also, 'X CAPCOM' what is the X for? Smile

I pre_ordered this to show support for the project Smile
At some point soon i'm going to be hit with a payment demand Sad
When it comes to SFV, it is possibly the best Ryu available, even better dare i say it than the bigger statues available.

It goes without saying, Ken is up next, assuming Ken gets the go ahead. They already teased him.
If they do offer a 3rd character, my money is on Cammy or Chun-Li, even although i would like to see Laura Matsuda receive some of the lime-light Smile

😁 I really hope he gets here faster than my last purchase from BBTS. I’ve seen the in hand of him and I’m very, very excited! DHL is a bit sluggish though in my area compared to FedEx, so here’s fingers crossed it’s early next week!

Ryu will not disappoint.
I received Ryu about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The box is very well made. When you pick up Ryu, it is the largest lump of silicone i have handled, and very weighty (think TBLeague x3). The paint work on the hands looks spot on. Both portraits look excellent. For the moment my Ryu remains in the box. When the time comes to display him, i will probably avoid any extreme poses, as it is silicone, i have that feeling time will not be kind to an over stressed elbow or knee.

It is TPE, not silicon, despite early advertising.

TPE? - what does that stand for?
Is that an improved take on the TBLeague silicone?

YouTubers have mentioned Hot Toys using a better silicone for their latest Wonder Woman ..could it TPE also?
It has been mentioned how much heavier the new Wonder Woman is compared to previous Hot Toys Wonder Women. I assumed the skeleton had possibly been upgraded from plastic to metal?

Look in the TBLeague seamless bodies catalog thread and maybe the Painting Seamless Bodies thread in Tutorials. Someone (gooboo?) got confirmation from TBLeague that, despite being advertised as silicon, the seamless material is TPE after all -- similar to Jiaou's (but TBLeague's seems less prone to damage). TPE is "Thermoplastic elastomers". These have been noted as heftier than the usual action figure bodies since the very start, although some of that is due to the stainless steel skeleton. I don't know about the HT Wonder Woman, but your Ryu has a specially designed TBLeague body, so it uses both a stainless steel skeleton and TPE. Given the size and shape, a lot more so than usual.

ah..
So..

What you are saying is:
TBLeague / Phicen use TPE (with a metal skeleton)
Jiaou use TPE (with a plastic skeleton)
Ryu uses TPE as he is made by TBLeague / Phicen

Hot Toys remains an unknown for the moment. It could be TPE all be it an improved TPE, as older Hot Toys figures that used rubber type material for arms etc tended to split over time.

Exactly. Technically, Jiaou uses metal joints but a plastic skeleton nonetheless.
