I wonder what this Blitzway "weathered" Ecto-1 will cost, and what availability will be like?

The "1984" version of the Ecto-1 released by Blitzway a few years ago originally retailed for about $1400 USD. There's one listed on eBay now for a cool five grand.

To give you an idea of the effects of inflation since 1984:


Shortly before the first "Ghostbusters" movie came out, I had my first job, and was going through a "hearse & ambulance" phase.

Uhmm... everybody goes through that phase, right?  

This was before "goth" came to be considered a "cool" subculture. I wasn't goth. I was just... according to nearly everyone whether they knew me or not... weird.

Anyway, around 1982 or so, I ran across two old ambulances for sale, a 1970 Pontiac and a 1973 Cadillac, complete with lights and sirens. I applied for my first-ever bank loan from the local credit union and bought the pair of them... for $1300. Not each. For the pair. Two real ambulances for less than the cost of the Blitzway "toy." Yes, they ran. Yes, they had lights and sirens, and spotlights. Yes, they were amazingly freakin' cool.

After the "Ghostbusters" movie came out, I naturally painted a Ghostbusters logo on the side of one of the cars, the Pontiac. This was long before "cosplay" was a socially acceptable pastime. No normal adult person dressed up in costumes of movie characters back then, other than occasionally at Halloween. This was long before almost every city had a "Ghostbusters club" building screen-accurate proton packs. My proton pack was made out of styrofoam, spray paint, and an old backpack frame.

Despite my budget costume, I actually had people ask me for my autograph, believing me to be one of the actors from the film, and disbelieving me when I told them I wasn't.

We get older, we get girlfriends and spouses (even some of us who are total geeks), and eventually the girlfriend/spouse decides the goofy cars need to go.

I still miss this car (1970 Pontiac Bonneville Superior), and my other ambulance (1973 Cadillac Superior), and my hearse (1961 Oldsmobile 88 Cottner-Bevington), and my other hearse (1961 Cadillac Superior). I wish I had managed to keep at least one of them. But getting married, and the opportunity to move to Hawaii... yeah.     I still have dreams in which I'm trying to remember where I parked them, desperately searching to find them before they get towed away.

I was sufficiently famous - locally - that I got my picture on the front page of the home town newspaper.

I'm not sure if I'd really want a Blitzway model; it might only serve to make me miss the old days when I had the real thing.

Yes, Dave, great story, and great phase of your life. Kudos for going for what you wanted. And for keeping Springfield free of ghosts. Too bad you had to give up the cars. As for this product, even before being reminded of the price of the earlier version, I was going to say Blitzway tends to think it is even better than Hot Toys.

Very true. It's pretty much across the board with all collectibles though. I've seen single trading cards go for 4k to 100k, regular boxes 200+, orignal art pages 200-2000 and up, cgc comics 1k and up (and this is for modern books!).

I don't know if the listing is before shipping but expect that to be a pretty penny as well as shipping and fuel costs skyrocket, especially for such a heavy item. That said, if you can grab this locally, probably better to do so because the shipping from asia may be very expensive to offset any savings.

What did you guys expect pricewise? Considering that a 'cheap' 1/6 figure is already over €100, but most are over €200 these days?
Considering that, a meter long vehicle, with lots of bells and whistles would be pricy. When I saw Strikers comment of the tag being €1700, I wasn't shocked.
Not that I will be ordering it though, I don't spend that much on 1/6 scale stuff anyway, but there are other reasons too (too large, outside of my range of interest).
