As always Blackpool, your photos look like they could be film stills. The Once Upon a Time ones look incredible, and completely love the John Wick and Django ones. Amazing work.

Chip wrote:I love all your figure photography , but that Jack Sparrow ....I had to double take , I thought they were reference pics , they are outstanding !

Thanks a lot! That's really my favorite figure lately, I believe it also has something to do with Johnny Depp's acting, he created such unique gimmicks and moves for that character... Hot toys did a great job in articulations, hands, and face expressions so you can easily get that genuine Capt Sparrow vibe

Thank you very much Sky!

Thank you very much! I try my best, I watch the said movies a lot, over and over, not always entirely, but to be in the mood, to take a closer look at technical details, where the light comes from, how the camera was placed in this or that sequence... Glad you could feel it in my shots!

GubernatorFan wrote:Great photos, but Jack Sparrow is the best of the recent ones. Are Leo and Brad talking to Alfred? Smile Nice additions as always.

Thanks a lot Ian! Indeed it's Alfred doing the tv show interviewer, your knowledge and physionomy skills for figures are incredible bro!

Thanks a lot Eph! I hadn't thought about it yet, but you're surely right, the choices of outfits for brad pitt in Tarantino's movie are definitely inspired by Lee Major

Thank you very much my bro! Your pictures are movie quality as well, and a 100% original creation, so... you beat me at that game! Thanks for the input, I always value your insight on my work!

Recently Bruce Willis announced that he was retiring from acting due to his health condition, which totally broke my heart. In France we already lost the dubbing actor that was associated to Bruce Willis on nearly all his movies, it feels like an icon of my childhood is gone, it's actually weird to now see Bruce Willis as an actor from the past, a bit like how I could preceive John Wayne in my youth.

Anyway, I started building several versions of Bruce Willis from my favorite movies, trying to give back some love for the underrated or forgotten movies he did... My first attempt is the Last Boy Scout, dunno if you will remember that, it's quite old now lmao

Nice way to honor Bruce, I was sorry to hear about that too. Frankly, I don't remember the film well (have I even seen it?), but the photo sequence is excellent, realistic, and looks like you just grabbed a few stills from a movie. Is that a stand-in headsculpt for Damon Wayans? You give me too much credit about being able to identify headsculpts -- half the time I'm thinking "this looks familiar, but what on earth is it?" Smile

Nice tribute pics. It is indeed sad about Bruce, but it’s even sadder knowing that for the last few years, the aholes innHollywood knew he wasn’t well, but used him to sell their crap direct to video garbage (he appeared, albeit briefly, in over 20 movies over the last 2 years, yet appears prominently on the box cover. They use people, and when they’re done with them, just toss them aside the moment they’re no longer useful.

Your pictures are really awesome. In German we have a phrase "Ganz großes Kino!", which means that it is a very great (movie) show. In my opinion it is especially enjoyable to see that your scenes are from other movie films than the 1/6 mainstream (such as Star Wars and the Marvel Universe).

Great story telling with just two pics! There is movement happening in our heads between the pics, how it's supposed to be.

And listen to Stryker, he knows the Hollywood world. Also we all will have to look out for Reverend Spooky once  he gets famous with his Radio Kings series.
They are much nicer in Wakaliwood I think.

For once you didn't find it, I'm surprised! It's an old will smith headsculpt from "I am legend" I believe... I built several Bruce Willis figures lately, waiting on another headsculpt to cover 12 Monkeys along with Brad Pitt! And yeah his early retirement for health reasons got me really saddened. I'm getting too old for this sh*t Razz

Totally agreed, that is such a shame, I saw a couple of them, not even entirely, very disappointing. May be he was trying to make the most possible in the time he had left before being too incapacitated by his disease, the walter white way...

Thank you very much!!! It means a lot to me since I really feel that these 80-90's movies built my childhood dreams, may be more than Star Wars, even if I'm a big fan. Indiana Jones and Marty Mc Fly or John McClane are my heroes Smile

Forgot to post my most recent diorama... Doc Emmett Brown's living room as in the beginning of the third movie! It's all real, the only photoshop tricks were to close their eyes, erase the little stand I used to make the hoverboard levitate, and erase a bit of the light cube I had placed in the fireplace.

BTW I built the hoverboard with cardboard, sticking a print for the top and bottom, and painting the section with acrylics, if anyone wants the template, just ask

Hope you'll like!

Shocked Impressive level of realism! It's the textures in the furnishings and details that bring the scene to another level of believability!

I'd love to understand the thought process and planning that goes in to doing something like this. It's "'Nother Level" stuff that I only dream of being able to do.

Well, I could tell it wasn't Damon Wayans (hence, "stand-in headsculpt"), but I don't remember if I thought of it as Will Smith at the time; now that you mentioned it, it is clearly him. But it does work reasonably well for Damon Wayans and very well in your scene.

Thank you Sky! Gotta say those lumecubes were a good investment, I recently bought some tripods to have them stand on their own, but thanks to their size you can really place them in the middle of your diorama without creating too much chaos (though they heat real fast if you put them on high intensity)

BTW got some dm, backdrops related my friend!

BAMComix wrote:So cool! I always enjoy seeing your work Blackpool!

Thanks a lot BAM! Still far from your amzingly detailed rooms, but I'm growing a solid collection of furniture and accessories lately, much more than figures I confess... I just received a lot of 1/6 wooden furniture, gotta paint and varnish but it's gonna be a game changer!

actionfiguremovies2 wrote:So cool Blackpool. Beautiful work. Can you show a picture of just how big that set is in all its Glory?

Thanks a lot AFM! It's not as large as it should to replicate the full living room of the mansion, but it was nearly 120cm long and 60cm deep.

Thanks a lot David! Most of the time it starts with a scene I love in a movie, I work on photoshop to create some textures I will print and apply on simple cardboard models, I sometimes add paint or wood details, build some furniture and try to get some in miniature shops (living in the chinatown district of Paris helps a lot)
Sadly I can't keep my dioramas forever, I got a very small apartment, so I try to make all wall panels separately to storage them easily and re-use them... I start to have a decent collections of those big cardboard panels with wall decors printed on them, a few details real made stuck on them, it allows to create a little set up very quickly.

I gotta confess it's more of an achievement feeling when assembling a real diorama where you'll be able to move and pose your figures in various stances and interactions... The magic from photoshop is a time consuming work that only affects one shot, so it's even more work to have a serie of shots with persistent effects and atmosphere...
