Glad to hear you finally received the hands. That’s an interesting poster — very Soviet style.

quite a bit to catch up here - looks like an interesting character with very intricate, detailed planning and meticulous execution... I applaud your effort and patience.

Funny enough I ordered these gloves too (in September 2020) and they have just arrived these days... fortunately I did not need them for a particular project. Just wanted them for the storage Very Happy

There were times i thought i might have been scammed. A Chinese seller taking many pre_orders on a small item they had no intention of delivering.

I only need two hands. I might use the middle finger glove for a bit of fun. The others, i might list on ebay along with all the other 1/6 scale stuff purchased and destroyed during the making of Asami

Found some time and motivation today. Decided to crack on..

The black gloves popped onto the metal ball joints hassle free. Phew!.
To my relief, i managed to insert the Asami homemade weapon handles into each hand.
The black arm sleeves were cut down and glued in around the ends of each arm.

Almost there!

Next job..
To position/pose the arms so that the correct length of piano wire (i've used cotton) can be determined.

They work great. I think the hands must specifically have been designed for TBL bodies — I had zero issues putting them on my Zatanna figure — they fit like a glove (pun intended).

Blood stage 1

What is this you are (possibly) wondering?
It is my solution to blood.
I pondered on and off weather to add blood to the wire. In the end it makes sense to add blood to add to the horror theme.

My approach (so far) is to glue 3x bristles (taken from a new sink cleaning brush) to the (cotton) wire.
Gravity ensured all 3 bristles pointed 100% downwards. Now i have to wait 24hrs for the glue to set 100%

Once the glue has set, the plan is to trim each bristle to different lengths. The next experiment will be to mix up some blood colored paint and allow it to run down each bristle. I hope the paint does not dissolved the glue.

Probably, given their popularity. Super smooth to attach, unlike Hot Toys hands, which can be brutal to attach/detach.

Nice, welcome to the club of gloved VS hand owners! They did deliver after all and yes they are great for the little metal joints.

I am sure your blood effect will turn out great. Someone used a similar technique for a werewolf here once, if I remember correctly.

Btw, do you know Kairo/Pulse by Kiyoshi Kurosawa?

The blood is slowly getting there. It is a slow process.
The movie poster provided the source of inspiration for the blood pattern.

The middle drip requires a slope section at the top right where it meets the wire. Paint has resisted my attempts so far.

I was not sure how this whole blood drip thing was going to work out, but I have got to say I am impressed. I know it did not work quite as you wanted, but still pretty good.

Thanks. The plan is to add a few more layers. I have to wait 24hr between layers to allow for the paint to dry. The next layer will be thinned out semi transparent red paint.

I think i am done with the blood drips.

Been working on the hair some more. There is no way i can straighten the wave.
Using hairspray i have managed to flatten it lots.

I picked up and oval shaped plastic base which should arrive this week.
The plan is to add some beige colored felt to it along with some blood splatter Very Happy

Thanks. It's about the best i can do.
One small problem, the left and right drips point out left and right respectively rather than 100% downwards. No big deal Very Happy

Took some photo's today.

Added the blue effect, as a similar filter effect appears during the movie.

I spent a while messing around with Asami's hairstyle. Tucking the hair behind the left ear was not an option, so i combed the hair back over the left ear. I did have a crack at attempting the long section that hangs downwards on right side. It is narrower than it should be, but it works Smile

I am still not happy with the way the 3 beige straps fail to pull the black apron in at the front. The 1mm black rubber used on the apron is too thick.

I would consider using thin vinyl (if you can find some that is not shiny) for the apron, as it will scrunch better at the straps -- or cinch in.

I could do, but it is not going to happen. Too much work involved in making that apron Very Happy
The plan is to try some new poses out and take some photo's Smile
Other than the base, i am 99% done with Asami. Who know's, maybe in the future i might upgrade the portrait, although i have grown to like the one i used.

..not to mention, i want to get back to Alex Nurse Price from An American Werewolf in London

Your dedication to accuracy is always great to see, so much time spent to do it right, I guess even minor inaccuracies will trigger
your perfectionism.

The photos with the blueish grainy filter look wonderful, like filmstills.

It really turned out amazing!! I think she looks suitably menacing and deadly. And the blood effect is just great, a very good solution.

I didn't notice the issue with the apron until you mentioned it. But if it's truly bothering you, rather than remake it (though of course that is a solution, too), you could try to pull the apron tighter using some other means... like with a string or some thin ribbon or something, and then cover that up with the beige straps so it's not visible underneath.

Thanks.

Given every other aspect is amounts to 'inspired by' without being 100% accurate, i will leave the apron as is. In some ways, the thick rubber apron has it's own qualities, as they are probably uncomfortable to wear, and that's what i see when i look at the figure.
..sounds like i am making excuses? :lol@

LOL, it's fine -- I only offer suggestions, but ultimately it's your figure and I totally get it that sometimes one just needs to be 'done' with a figure after a certain point.

Project - Asami Yamazaki (from Audition) - Page 7 Asami-Hot-Toys-base
LOADING: Image(s)

Been working on a base. I started with a used Hot Toys stand (from ebay). It belonged to Wolverine
Attached some felt to the base to represent carpet. The felt could use de_fluffing.
Added some blood splatter. More blood might be added to the middle of the large section.
Printed to paper ASAMI YAMAZAKI and glued that into place.
The black metal adjustable rod at the back had the ends chopped off and inserted upside-down. While it has lost the ability to hold
the figure in place, it does serve the purpose of stopping Asami toppling backwards. Given the boots Asami wears, the figure is quite stable.
