I like them too, mostly as a source for clothing that might fit on higher-end figures. Head connections are subject to customization. In fact I've pretty much given up on the inside neck connectors and yank them out or drill them out every chance I get.
Yes, Barbie clothing *can* fit certain 1/6 figures... but it greatly depends on which 1/6 body it is (especially if a tbleague), and what kind of clothing it is. Certain styles lend themselves more than others (I find outfits that are in multiple pieces, like a separate top and skirt, to have more of a chance of fitting, but that's just in my limited experience.)
And neck connectors...yes, agree...I don't bother with them anymore unless they really are a perfect fit on a body. Otherwise, it's so much easier just to pull them out and either pad out the inner part of the head, and/or pad the neck post on the body.

Might be because I haven't really looked into it (I think the only Barbie I ever bought was the Wonder Woman one -- or one of them, as I'm sure there was more than one). At any rate, I was surprised at how natural (for a visibly-jointed body) it looked in the custom -- although that is surely due in part to the head sculpt and clothing. Lynkhart's Max and Juno are Barbies!? Well, she's done a lot to them, I guess.
Maybe not in RL, but you've 'met' the articulated barbies before, in the form of Max and Juno. Lynkhart has indeed customized them in various ways (their tattoos, for instance), but the dolls themselves are Made-to-Move barbies, from what I recall. (You can see their bodies more clearly in this
pool party photoshoot.)
Here's a good quick comparison pic of different barbie types from a review:
I'm guessing the Wonder Woman barbie you got was the muscular kind (or 'heroic' as it's called in the above pic). There are several other barbie body types, including more static ones, but most of them now have at least slightly more realistic body shapes. The old style barbies that I used to play with as a kid are now relegated to 'vintage' status.
Anyway, sorry if it this is veering off topic, but I thought it might be useful info for those who weren't aware of the articulated barbies. : )
