Freddy arrived today
He will be joining my slow growing 1/6th scale line up featuring various horror characters.

I made use of the Spooktacular 2022 SPOOKY22 13% off code along with some SSC points, which helped justify the cost of the figure.

What can i say?
I like the figure. It is good to see Sideshow Collectibles support classic horror screen monsters.
I hope they offer more horror characters from other movies in the future.

Freddy's portrait looks nicely detailed, with a decent enough paint app.

The 2 unique gloved hands, one open and one gesture hand, both look excellent! with good blood splatter.
The blades look metal with their chrome finish.

The figure ships with ungloved 3 lefts hands each with there own pose/gesture.

Freddy's classic striped sweater, brown trousers and boots all look as they should.

One trick Sideshow appeared to miss was the inclusion of 2 hands featuring syringes on each of the finger tips.
Maybe Sideshow did consider the idea but felt it was a step too far? who knows?

The only negatives with regards to the figure include:
1. Freddy's fedora (hat) cannot be removed (no big deal)
1. The joints on Freddy's body are not as tight as a Hot Toys body.

Nice grab, Shaun. Photos look good. Really dig that last one.

Nice photos, Shaun. I'm not familiar with Sideshow Freddie figures but I recall seeing his syringe hands before, badly done ones though.

Maybe at some point in the future i could look into making a pair of syringe hands. From what i can tell, all that is required is a pair of hands and clear plastic tubes and some thin metal rods. The plastic tubes could prove difficult to find. I guess that is part of the fun

Hot Toys - Black Widow (Special Edition)

Black Widow arrived today all the way from Hong Kong
This is the black outfit Black Widow from the movie Black Widow (2021)

The prototype looked amazing!
When the production pieces started showing up not so long ago, collectors were loosing their s--- over what was perceived as.. Hot Toys appeared to have altered the portrait slightly?
Why? Who knows?

This was not going to stop me from picking up the figure. I have to agree, the portrait looks slightly wider compared to the proto portrait. As to be expected with Hot Toys, the paint app looks spot on.

The outfit is far better compared to the Hot Toys Black Widow from Avengers: Endgame. I have to admit, the End Game Black Widow still rates as Hot Toys most accurate looking Scarlett Johansson

The figure ships with various accessories.
The Special Edition ships with Taskmaster’s shield

All in all I like the figure. The plan is to display Black Widow next to Taskmaster

I tend not to stress pose my 1/6th scale figures, hence the slightly boring pose in the photo's above

Nearly forgot to mention the neck. Hot Toys appeared to have up’d their game when it comes to 1/6th scale necks. Thought I’d mention that.

Looks good. Despite the sculpted hair, I’m looking forward to getting what promises to be the last Scarlett Widow. I didn’t get Taskmaster, since it didn’t come with a revealed Olga sculpt.

I do not mind the sculpted hair. It is very good sculpted hair.
If Marvel ever re_boot Black Widow, no doubt a different actress will get the part.
There is one more Black Widow from Hot Toys to come - the white outfit Black Widow

Hot Toys missed a trick by not including an Olga sculpt with Taskmaster
I guess there is always room for Hot Toys to release a Taskmaster 2.0 complete with Olga portrait. I doubt Taskmaster is popular enough for that to happen.

Yeah, I think you’re right about Taskmaster and the character’s popularity. Marvel/Disney got a lot of flak from comic books fans when they discovered they changed the gender of the character.

I can only assume they changed the gender because of the pro women trends that have been implemented in recent years.

Oh, I'm sure that was the case, as evidenced by the multitude of such cases. Sadly, I don't think it's doing them any favors long term.

I know Hot Toys almost always decides for sculpted hair, but here it makes sense I think.

They could make a black widower next.

LOL that made me giggle out loud. I picked up the head, and like it a lot, and I can kinda see why they went with sculpted hair this time (this time there was a better excuse than usual, I mean), although in principle I'm still not sold on it. It is pretty great, but still plastic hair.

John James Rambo 1/6 scale figure by Sly Stallone Shop

The figure arrived today
For whatever reason, i have been looking forward to getting this figure in probably more so than any other figure i received during 2022. The slow shipping method caused the figure to arrive in 2023 even although the figure shipped at the beginning of December 2022

I took these photo's tonight. In the future the plan is to shoot some outside daylight pic's.

First impressions, the figure does not disappoint. I'd say the portrait has been painted to the same level as a Hot Toys portrait.
The green jacket, red t-shirt, blue Demin jeans all look great. The arm-dog-tags are made of metal.
John's sleeping bag looks suitable weathered.
The only weapon John ships with is his Rambo knife.
8 hands in total are included, which allows for various possibilities.

The base, i like the base. The base has weight to it, and the tarmac road finish and metal drain lid work well.

The box looks great. It is by no means Hot Toys level. It reminds me more of a type of quality a Sideshow Collectibles 1/6th figure ships in, all be it wider.

All in all i am a very happy collector. I will be placing a pre_order for the Sly Stallone Shop next offering, which is Cobra

If i wanted to be hyper picky and mention some negatives they might include:

Elbows appear to be single jointed. Which means the pose holding the sleeping bag (as pictured) is not possible.

John's ankles do not feel super tight. Given the figure is quite weighty, i thought they would have include tighter ankle joints. Posing John without the base support is probably not a good idea.

John's brown leather boots. On the plus side, they feature real laces. Boot left and right boots look identical, and lack a left and right look to them, making them look neither left or right fit. I am probably sounding too picky here.

Seems to have turned out very well after all. If you need to, you can swap the body. Too bad about the boots, although from a distance, in that light, it is not too visible.

I think John turned out better than the prototype. The portrait paint app looks better.
The body appears to be designed with Stallone in mind. Swapping out the body for the sake of one pose is probably not going to happen. Given all who were involved with the project, i thought double jointed elbows would have been an obvious choice to make.
