For those unfamiliar with tha “box of chocolates” expression, I mean that some Aliexpress vendors are good and some aren’t.

You are very welcome. I was hoping that if not that very thing, you'd find something close enough to customize. Good luck.

Hi all, I just  picked up a Super Duck SET016 (Street Fighter Chung-Li in her black outfit) on eBay last night.  I believe the seller/original owner has her on a S23B (suntan, medium) body.

When doing a little research, I found a thread on OSW from a few years back where the proper body match was being discussed, and a few members I recognize from this forum contributed to the conversation.

Some vendors recommended the S21B body (suntan, large), but a couple of posters did go with the S23B instead.

So my main two questions:

1) Was there ever a better body found to match the skin tone of the head?  I know at the time, neither the pale nor suntan Phicen bodies were an exact match, and the Jiaou bodies were just being released.

2) I prefer medium bust female bodies whenever possible, but in this particular case, is the medium bust big enough to fill out the costume?  Clearly that design relies quite a bit on proper fit to keep her chest from falling out of it.  😂

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I’m more than fine with leaving her on the S23B if that’s the best option.

Anyone know where/who I could get an anime characters head from? Ugh...this is SO hard to find and I'm not even picky 😅

Hello, and welcome! Smile

Regarding anime heads -- are you looking for specific characters that look exactly like the animation, or just looking for stylised headsculpts? One option is Super Duck, they have some anime-esque sets and heads sometimes. Though a lot of the 1/6 heads that are based on anime-style tend to be a blend of stylisation and realism.

I know that users MeMyself&I and brassco have some anime-style figures, and perhaps they could help with specifics.

Hi, JustJen, and welcome. Are you looking for male or female? If you do an e any search for “1/6 scale (insert gender) head sculpt” you’ll get a large array to choose from. Be careful ordering anything from China, you can also check the online vender list here:

https://onesixthfigures.forumotion.com/t1860-on-line-retailers-list

Some of them sell just heads (like Monkey Depot, Black Ops Toys, onesixthkit, Giantoy, ToyAnxiety). Don’t be afraid to post a link for a specific head you find, as many of us have been in this hobby a long time and we can help with any questions regarding venders, etc.

I would suggest searching retailers that breakdown sets and part out their components for individual sale. For example, you can browse these -- which happen to be half price for the next couple of days:

Blah, Blah….blah, blah, blah.

Ever read one of your one posts and cringe?

“What body should I put the Super Duck SET016 set on? (Chun-Li in black costume).” That’s it. Nobody wants to read an essay.

The answer is “The Super Duck SET016 was designed for the S21B body. Duh. It’s Chun-Li in her black costume. That costume is iconic for a reason and it’s not because she has big feet.”

Moving her from a S23B to a S21B was the right call. The costume fits the S21B beautifully and tastefully. I’m quickly becoming a big fan of Super Duck.

I have not used any of the newer bodies as I prefer the S17B for most uses, though to be honest none of the TBL/Phicen bodies are completely realistic in proportions to my eyes.
As for Chun Li though, the character never was realistically proportioned in the games so I would say whichever is the most muscular and busty one! The S21B sounds like the right call based on images I have seen, can't think of another better suited

I’m looking for something suitable to make a custom figure out of one of these two looks.

Can anyone suggest a head to use? Best I can find are the bottom two pics, which would need some modifications and are both rather exaggerated expressions

If you're happy to do some repainting, then these could work:

YMT043 (you can remove the tongue and could repaint the eyebrows to something angrier):

These might be a good basis. I found these on Ebay, from the same overpriced sources...

Thanks, seen all those but the face sculpt looks the wrong shape.

I've seen these two which look promising

for these shots respectively. Main problem on both, of course, is the hair colour...

What’s the best option to change the hair colour on the smiling headsculpt in the previous post? Apparently dyeing it isn’t an option, so that seems to leave using a ready made wig piece or rerooting by hand. Would the join or skin tone difference be obvious if a wig was used?

Stryker2011

Stryker2011

Rerooting by hand is the best bet. Most wigs for this size (size 4), tend to be really thick with hair, giving a 70s Dolly Parton fullness. Gluing hair on in very, very small clusters is your best bet. You can see a bit of how it’s done here:

https://onesixthfigures.forumotion.com/t2006-converting-jason-momoa-ht-aquaman-head?highlight=Aquaman

Otherwise a Google search on how to glue on doll hair should give you tips. It takes a bit of practice, and is pretty messy, so I would buy some cheap, throwaway sculpts to mess around with before moving on to the ones you want.

Thanks, was hoping for an option that didn’t involve rooted hair (probably better to hire someone with more experience and skill than me to do it, all things considered), but if there’s no other way..

There are some cheap synthetic 'wigs' (actually hairpieces) intended for 1/6 scale heads. But they do require pulling off the back of the headsculpt and replacing it with the 'wig'. If you search for '1/6 scale wig' on ebay you'll find an array of options. The only issue with these is that they don't always fit 100% exactly onto the intended headsculpt (because of variations in 1/6 headsculpt sizes and shapes), so you may need to do some adjustment on them. But they are 'easier' than the custom rooted/glued hair route, if you aren't feeling up to trying that yourself yet.

Hi, does anyone know where I could buy these or similar 1:6 scale Adidas boots? It’s from an aggregate style web page, and the links don’t work. The actual seller (toysisland) may be from eBay.

Sorry, Wonderpants... I am very unfamiliar with 1/6 scale men's footware. Hopefully someone else can help?

I have a question of my own, and that is... has anyone ever encountered a 1/6 scale men's white blouse in Victorian/Edwardian/Gothic/Steampunk style? The only formal white shirts for male figures I can find are generic modern dress shirts, which just don't have the look I'm going for. I've also tried looking at official boxed figures to see if any had something I could kitbash, but either the 'shirt' in question turned out to be just a dickie and not an actual shirt, or it was the wrong colour. I'm guessing it might not exist, but still thought it was worth asking in case...
