Project - Nurse Alex Price (from An American Werewolf In London) - Page 3 Ear-Rings-Left-Right-Ears
Two scenes from An American Werewolf in London

In the name of research, i checked out An American Werewolf London, again ;D

I noticed something. Nurse Alex Price appears to wear silver ear studs in both ears.
Luck foe me i have the ideal solution, left overs from Project - Asami Yamazaki (from Audition)
On the subject of Asami Yamazaki, i am still waiting for the hands to arrive. They still have not shipped.

Comparing Nurse Alex Price with Jessica (Logan's Run) the hair style are not too dissimilar.
The hair-parting is different, and Jessica has slightly shorter hair. During the scene above, her hair
looks less curly.

Great attention to detail as always. But are you positive these are not pearls? (I honestly can't tell.)

Could be pearls. I think they shine too much. Would a nurse wear pearls? ..possibly?
Time to search for a better resolution image.
The images above are direct from TV screen. I wish the Playstation could screen grab from DVD/Blu-ray, but they cannot.

Update: They could be perals?

I'll compromise, round and shiny should do the trick Very Happy

I agree, round and shiny -- but maybe somewhat matte shiny -- should do the trick. I would experiment mixing (for example) Vallejo silver and ivory white paint. They also have a pearl(escent) medium.

Update: cool, glad you figured it out. I guess one can still proceed as above. There are also these "rhinestone" or "gem" stickers you can find in Hobby stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby, which are made to look like (half) pearls. Perhaps the smallest size would work. But no promises.

You really are a master of accurate detail recreation!

I think of you made the shirt of a very thin fabric, the folds would look more realistic. Or put a wire in there.

Thanks. I consider myself to be a long way off where i'd like to be. Hot Toys, they are the 1/6th scale masters Very Happy

I like the wire idea to add some shape. Going to think on that one.

Damn that is a lot. Then there is the issue of space. Atleast 300 of my DVD's are in plastic tubs. Only my favourites are on shelves, easy access.

A quick photo. Lighting was dark, too dark.
The bottom image has been added to a scene from the movie.

As you can see, the NYU letter's have been added to the t-shirt.
As you cannot see, i have added a wire to the bottom area of the t-shirt allowing for shaping. I used thin solder, as that's all i had to hand.

Thanks to Ovy for that tip. I would not have thought of it myself.
It's a start. I think more time could be spent bending the wire.

Just need to add the pearl ear studs.
I might make a base. Something simple with the white wood vertical to suggest a door frame.
Some beige felt to suggest carpet.
I might return to the eye's. They look ok. They could look better.

I am at the thinking stages, the possibility of making a small base, about the size of a standard Hot Toys rectangular base on which there would be two white columns representing the sides of a door entrance, with a small section of wall to the left and right sides, about 30cm tall.

Today i killed some watching An American Werewolf in London, paying much attention to the wooden door frame, wall colors, and the skirting board design. I am amazed at the height of the skirting board. After spending much time working out how tall it could be, i spotted what appeared to be a collection of 12inch records. I reached the conclusion that the skirting board is a massive 13inches (330mm) high!

By my calculation 330mm equates to 55mm 1/6 scale.

Any suggestions on how to make the skirting board?

Sir you are fast, great work with the wire.

For the board I think balsa wood might work, but also polystyrene, it comes in many geometric shapes and sizes, also half tubes and long sheets etc.

The wire worked out well, thanks for the tip.

It also seems pricey for what it (balsa wood) is. I might pick up some if only for the skirting boards.
I have a lump of wood for the floor. I have some thin plywood that might work for the walls, but i would not what the (wood) grain showing though. I thought about skimming the plywood with filler, to smooth it. That might given an illusion of wall.

Thanks.

The 3rd t-shirt has arrived, and it appears to be the same as the 2nd t-shirt. I am tempted to add some NYU letter to that one also, but move them up towards the neck by 3mm

I would think thin sheets of balsa wood (the stuff in craft or hardware stores) would work as Ovy mentioned. Layer it to get that crown-molding detail — it looks less like base-board and more like crown molding to me. Once it’s painted the wood grain won’t show, regardless of what you use. While the walls look “brown”, I’m guessing the lighting has dulled down more of a pumpkin tone.

I found some old wood for the base and walls. I found a balsa wood deal on ebay, which i will use for the skirting boards.
The wall color is an odd one. I looked at the color on the Blu-ray, it appears to be a shade of Terracotta with a hint of pink. Depending on lighting, from one scene to another, it almost appears to be orange. When David turns on a lamp, it almost appears to be a shade of pink/grey. Somesort of orange/pink/grey should work.

Project - Nurse Alex Price (from An American Werewolf In London) - Page 3 Wall-Colors-v1

I picked up some testers from a hardware store.
The darker vibrate pink for the hall should work well with a bit of toning down.
The light green should work well.
The other two colors mixed look off. Will have a lookout for a better color. These two color might help if mixed in.

Project - Nurse Alex Price (from An American Werewolf In London) - Page 3 Skirting-Board-Size

Having paused the Blu-ray for a better look (than the DVD can offer) i held a tape measure to the TV screen and measured 10cm high. This was close to perfect, as the 13inches i had calculated based on the 12ince record sleeves, calculated 1/6 scaled down to 5.5cm

I had search online for property for sale in the same road, and found a shot (pictured) that still has the same massive skirting boards in place. Other properties, in the same road appear to have been modernized, which is sad in some respects.

I will go with one of the top two colors.
The bottom two colors were added to put the top two into perspective.
The light and dark vertical strips to simulate light/dark conditions.

They are really close. I'd say Tuscan Terracotta, but it is not a foregone conclusion. I admire your method.

I think the top color also.
Then again, the color below the top color could be viewed as an aged/slightly faded take on the top color, it does appear to have a blue edge to it. Tuscan Terracotta probably fits the bill best.

Did another calculation, and must have had a moment when calculating what Phicen/TBLeague to pick up.
I went for the PLMB2017-S27B Suntan with a height of 23.5cm (26cm once the head sculpt is added).

Jenny Agutter height 1.7m (170cm)
Divided by 6 = 28.33cm

The ideal Phicen/LBLeague would be 26cm high.

Update: The website i purchased the body from stated that the height was 26cm high.

The site was possibly stating the height of the body with a head included?

There is a thread here on this forum where people have been compiling a list of height information for various tbleague bodies:

https://onesixthfigures.forumotion.com/t3013-tbleague-phicen-seamless-bodies-with-steel-skeleton-catalog-updated-continually

A few other tbleague bodies you could look into:

- s25b (quite short and petite, but taller and a little more robust than the s27b)
- s17b (one of the taller bodies, but has a smaller bust than a lot of the more busty tbleague bodies. Height could be fine if the figure is meant to be viewed alone or if you make sure the male character is the right height next to her)
- s19b (taller, but with a smaller bust, I believe this is one the Stryker is using for his Logan's Run figure)
- s29b (somewhat more curvy and busty, but in-between the petite bodies and the taller bodies in terms of height. However, this one also has an issue with short-ish arms, so perhaps avoid if you are trying to remedy that.)

Alternatively, if you are open to other types of 1/6 bodies, you may have a few other options. Given the areas that the t-shirt covers, you could potentially get away with using the PopToys Xing 'semi-seamless' body. This one has seamless arms and legs, and there is recently an 'improved version' available. It's not overly tall (though perhaps still not quite tall enough for what you need?) and comes in small, medium, and large bust, and in suntan and pale skintone. I have several and I find them useful alternatives, depending on the character.

Also, there are Jiaou doll bodies, which while perhaps not as reliable as tbleague in terms of overall durability, come in several variations, including a medium bust body and a wide array of skintones:

Project - Nurse Alex Price (from An American Werewolf In London) - Page 3 S-l16030

I don't own one of these and thus can't personally vouch for them, but I do know some people find them quite helpful when looking for different skintones than just the basic 'suntan vs. pale'.

PLMB2017-S19B
I wonder what the height is to the top of neck ball joint?

I have read PLMB2017-S19B is the same as S01A and S02A but with removable feet.

The Jiaou figures seem ok. Low price etc.

I found this line up, which features measurements that same way i measured the PLMB2017-S27B
I have added a green ? to the two that seem ideal. I cannot make out the S no.?
I'm half sure it says S07C ? ..the other being S01A

From what I understand, yes, the s18/19 type is the same as the s01a, just with detachable feet. The issue with the seamless ankles/un-detachable feet is that those types cannot stand up on their own. So if you wanted the body type of the s01a, but also wanted the ability to stand up un-aided, then you'd have to go with the s18/19 type (s19b is the suntan version).

I'm not sure of the exact measurement to the ball joint at the neck, but you could maybe get an idea from this pic:
